has anyone talked about Millsap yet? What's the max he could get and what's really what he should get? I would prefer him over Landry, and if we can somehow sign Millsap by letting Ron walk and maybe doing something else to free up some more space, then we could possibly trade Landry for a swingman with a J or a more than solid back up for Yao, so that may even allow Yao to play even less minutes.
If Boozer leaves Utah which is likely, then I think they will do everything in their power to lockup Milsap.
he's due 12.6 million next year, i can't see him getting more than that per year somewhere else, he was injured and didnt play great at times this season, it would be better for him to raise his value again next year in his final year, then sign another multi-year contract for whatver he can get.
Why is Boozer leaving "likely"? He has a $12.7m POpt. If the economic times are as tough as what everyone is posting here, why would he decline the POpt with only 3 teams with capspace?
After watching Denver's size and athleticism up front destroy the offensive rhythm for LA I'm starting to think that grabbing a 6'10'+ athlete needs to be priority one and two for this team. With Deke retiring and Yao being as injury prone as ever I think the team needs to grab someone who is good enough to log 20+ minutes a night backing up Yao and Scola on some nights. Of course, this player needs to also be ready to play starter's minutes should Yao go down again. But on top of that they need another guy near 7 feet who can step and grab spot minutes from time to time. This team cannot afford to be two injuries away from having midgets manning the post. Do it Morey!
I'd have to say LAC is more "realistically possible" being that winning the lottery has insured Camby to be shipped out. By adding Griffin, unless they're dumb enough to screw that up, they'll have too many frontcourt players. Our starting backcourt would be small, AB/Lowry + Baron. My preference would be Granger but I'd doubt Indy would let him go.
Please, no more Redd posts. You complain about Tmac and Yao being injury prone, why would you want to add Redd? Also, I'm not really high on Baron Davis, we know he could play in a run and gun system but he looked pretty mediocre for the Clippers. Before anyone want to butt in about his injury this season, even before injury he looked unmotivated. We know he played hard to get a new contract but he's not worth the money he's getting now. I really doubt moneyball Morey would invest in an unmotivated, overpaid, old player.
i guess this belongs more in the offseasont thread...but, what y'all be willing to do a trade mainly involving Lowry for Ty Lawson? Lawson is projected in the early 20s, Morey said it's unlikely he'd get a pick lower than 25, but if Ty fell and you dangled lowry...i guess there's more parts to add to that scenario
No...after review, you are correct recalling what he said in DEC '08 and "likely" is a good choice of words. So scratch Milsap off of any wishlists. Although, let's not lose sight of the fact that the Jazz will retain Bird Rights and can still SnT Boozer. Then again, Boozer didn't uphold his word to the Cavs so hard telling what will happen when the bucks start flowing.
Or maybe we could buy a pick from a team in position to draft budinger? He's projected around 27 right now..
i think that may have been prior to his injury, didnt he miss almost 2 months right after that? I think his stock is low right now, he may decide to wait for the spending spree next summer, those teams who think they can land a big name and dont will probably throw the max at him so they dont leave empty handed.
Yeah we know how Boozer is, so we will just have to wait and see what he does. He didn't have a great year. I don't think Morey would go after Milsap though. I think he is pretty satisfied with the Scola/Landry combination right now.
hopefully they dont want to just be satisified though, they want to make the team better and i think if they can pull off millsap instead of ron and trade Landry for someone to take ron's spot but can shoot, you definitely improve this team. Stronger PF rotation, much needed shooting, do away with ron's bad shot selection/passes.
I see Dave78 is starting to come to my side with big athletic guys. Scola is a good player, described as "crafty" , but when u can explode and finish through or ovedr people, u don't have to be. How many head or pump fakes do u see landry make? There's a reason he doesn't have to. The rox have te's which they never use and some good, cheap players they should combine to get better players. That's why I didn't understand signing barry and drafting dorsey. There are also some teams with a lot of young players they might be willing to get rid of. It seems like every summer this team is at a crossroads.
i dont really like morey's attitude about just going with the small guys because they feel they have advantages going small.......this team has had trouble for years on offense and a big problem is getting easy shots. Coincidentally, i can't remember the last time we had a big man who's putbacks were dunks and could sky for easy alleys. Cato is the closest, but well, yea, it's Cato.....i'm not saying we need flashy guys, just that we need easy baskets. We have guys who can draw double teams in yao and tmac, we have a guy who could pretty much get by his defender whenver he wants in Brooks...there's no reason why we shouldn't be able to get a man coming from the weakside/backdoor for at least 2, maybe 3 easy alley oops a game. Well we do have a reason, we dont have anyone who can finish like that easily. Tooo many times we've had an offensive rebound that the average nba center and most power forwards would dunk back in, but instead we have landry and scola twisting into pretzels to avoid hands above them. Yes, sometimes they make them, but their easy putbacks sometimes turn into difficult shots. i use to love the play Francis and Cat would run, where Francis would corss his man over and take it in, when the trees collapsed on him Cat would be coming baseline and would get an easy alley oop from steve. good enough to get at least 2, maybe 4 easy points every game. With a big man you could probably get 6 points from it.
-Sessions and CharlieV are both free agents, they cant be traded unless its a sign and trade. -You won't be able to get Chris Paul unless you offer up Yao...which I would do from a wanting to win standpoint, but Morey won't do from a $$$ standpoint. -Vulturing would require offering up our huge expiring (McGrady) with a great young guy who is underpaid (Brooks, Landry or Scola) or even Battier who is a valuable piece. -In return you would get something decent and something that is overpaid. -alot of you are forgetting that McGrady is a valuable trading chip but only for certain teams in certain situations. -say no to one year players and old players. Bringing Shaq here would be a nightmare.
Rv6- that's what I b**** about with the rox. Oopposing teams don't have to defend "over the top" plays. The basic pnr is a very good play in itself, but when u have a guy that can "go get it", its one of the easiest plays in hoops. The news with the clippers might give the rox a chance to get jordan or camby. They're taking griffin which would shake a big loose. I really like thorton as a 3, I doubt the rox could get a young guy like him.
