same thing happened to me... except I tied my shoelaces tighter and played for another 15 minutes... Went to the hospital to reveal a fracture. 5 months ago I was playing and got elbowed in the face, got 6-7 stitches... My cheekbone area is still sensitive from that elbow.
I dislocated my right shoulder twice. The first time was in Judo and the second time was playing basketball. When I dislocated it the first time my coach ran onto the mat and kept me from moving. They got me to the hospital and they set up an IV valium drip. The doctor took my arm and gently lifted it while turning it and it popped right back with almost no pain. I thought it was the valium but as they got ready to take the IV out the nurse noticed that they had hit a valve and it wasn't flowing. The second time I dislocated it I was playing pick up ball at the college gym and I reached out with my right hand to pick off an inbounds pass. The ball carried my arm back but I whipped it forward and that's when my should popped out. Not thinking, and not having a coach there to stop me, I reached up with my left hand and slammed the joint back into the socket. Not a good idea..... It hurt like hell and took a lot longer to heal.
lmfao. god i love it when im just scrolling along reading all these posts about serious injuries and someone drops one of those "you never see it coming" belly laugh posts.
About 15 years ago, playing at Cypresswood Park, behind that courthouse, came down on the edge of the concrete, felt about 10 different things in my left ankle rip. Went to the doc, he said it was the worst sprain he had ever seen. He said it would have been much better if it had simply broken, as sprains like this never fully heal. I believe him. Even now, if I step on it wrong, I will be limping for a week. With that original injury, I was literally on crutches for about 6 weeks. Blood flowed under the skin all the way up to my knee, my entire lower leg was red and bruised and swollen from that thing. No more skywalking for me - I am strictly an 'on the floor' player now.. It's ok though, cuz I am one heck of a good shooter.
i turn my ankles 90 degrees... but they're never hurt. lucky for me, cause i jump around a lot. I do expect to tear something in my knee one day, though.. for now, it's either the broken arm after getting undercut going for a steal.. or the recurring, annoying-as-hell back injury that i've had for the last year or so. Doesn't hurt a ton, but hurts enough...and even as I type, breathing in hurts it. No stretches or amount of rest have helped
Nothing really serious. The only thing I can think of is an elbow to the face. It happened not to long ago. I was hit right next to my right eye, got cut open, and had blood dripping all over the place. I didn't get stitches and just let it heal on it's on. But now I got a noticeable scar next to my eye.
Hairline fracture on ankle, was out for like a month. That crap still hurt when flexed in a certain way for another month after that. Other than that, I get minor ankle sprains and twists here and there that last from a day to a few days.
I hate it when this happens....lol <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/wrvoR0ufEX8"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/wrvoR0ufEX8" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/__i9Qk-1eN0"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/__i9Qk-1eN0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
basketball injury is only sprained ankles did get a pretty nasty crotching playing volleyball one time, and more recently suffered another hit in the twig and berries playing soccer - just another reason to hate soccer....*** sport that it is.
1985 I was playing in an industrial league game on a rainy night. Someone left a side door open to get some cross-breeze. Nobody noticed that water was encroaching on the court. I chased a ball to the sideline and hit that puddle and crashed. I thought I'd sprained my ankle BADLY. I was out almost a year. Fifteen years later that ankle was still bothering me so I had it Xrayed. Turns out I had fractured it on that rainy night. September 15 2003 isa day that will live in infamy because Batman Jones cancelled our lunch date so, instead, I head to the gym for little hoops. Fifteen minutes later I'm lying in a heap. My knee blew out. I tore the patella tendon off my left knee and cracked the patella in two. I still own the award in that 32 YO lunchtime pickup game for the grossest injury...
I was pretty lucky with injuries playing ball. Severe road rash is the worst for me. One time it was so deep I swear I could see my kneecap. Skateboarding...now that's a different story...
