Kevin Willis played well for us when Barkley was hurt but damn, I've never seen a big man with shorter arms. He was like T-Rex.
For my spurs: Dennis Rodman Stephen Jackson John Salmons Luis Scola Leandro Barbosa Hedo Turkoglu Goran Dragic
Jim Jackson. They guy played very well with us, but JVG traded him for a slower, undersized David Wesley. You guys talk about how JVG never had the right players but this trade was one stupid trade. Jim Jackson shot 3's well, was a team player and was very good defender. The PERFECT compliment player to Tmac.
thats news to me. just now knowing about this in 2010 and all. wished we woulda kept richard jefferson before he fell more in love with men instead of playing basketball! now im glad hes not on our squad these days.
Somebody FINALLY said JIM JACKSON the guy was a good player...I always felt we should've never traded him. Stupid trade.
this. damn shame he didn't play as his last game in our rocket spaceship jersey. canada didn't witness the real dream. but that was their memory of him. sighs.
Since all the good choices -- the Dream, Moses, Big E, Horry, Cassell and Otis --- are all taken, I will shed a small tear for the hero of the 22-game streak, Steve Novak.
Another vote for Cassell and Horry. Don't get me wrong: Barkley was a heckuva player, and if we'd gotten him a few seasons earlier, it would've been a worthwhile trade. But what we gave up (a young PG, and three forwards, one young and two veterans) was just too much. When I think of what our franchise could have been with those two (plus Chucky Brown) on the team...yeesh... And who knows? If we'd kept the nucleus of the championship teams, Hakeem might've stayed. Double
It didn't hurt us too bad that season (96-97), with 57 wins...too bad they let Utah beat them in the WC finals.
