Honestly, the difference between Vancouver's and Toronto's franchise success is simple, Toronto had Vince Carter, and Steve Francis refused to sign.

That and the fact that Toronto is far larger, and that an american owned Vancouver, which didn't bode well with the populace. I think the Culture shock may be a bit overstated, Vancouver is basically the same as its american border town, Seattle.

Wonder why the NBA didn't expand to Montreal instead of Vancouver tho.

 

This was probably like 7 years ago. He was with some producers and rappers having drinks and dinner. He looked completely gone. One of the producers was fed up he didn’t get paid for some studio **** they’ve done. Francis had a rap group he funded.

Long story short. Voices got loud. Francis stood up talking more mess / wobbling. The Producer stood up and knocked him out with one punch. He just laid there for a minute and his friends basically knew it’s time to go, had enough.. No fights broke out...

I saw Steve Francis again at work. Yesterday, Friday. As he walked by me to get a form to fill out I was still amazed at what a physical specimen he is.
