right now, i think if it was either boki or pike the two players who would get traded, i would keep boki, but i don't think the rockets feel the same way, pike is a good shooter, but i think that boki can get better, he needs more playing time that's all, pike is not going to get any better, but i think boki has a long way to go, which means that he will take some time to fully develop, the only thing we need is patience, which i don't think the rockets have.
I was looking at the trade for 'Spoon a little differntly than most I think. I think the deal may have been made so that we can start Mo and move Cato back to the bench. Before we had no backup 4, now we do. With the way that Mo has improved from the injury I would think that he deserves that starting spot. Franchise/Wilks Cat/Pike JJ/Griffin Mo/Spoon Yao/Cato
Even JVG knows we need some offense on this team. I don't see Cato being moved. Yao still doesn't have the knack of aggressive play. When he tries, the refs tag him. Mo is coming into fine form lately; Cat has a great contract and is a good defender and can supply 18/20 ppg. Boki has landed not in JVG's doghouse but rather in the coach's outhouse; I guess JVG doesn't like foreign-born players unless they're 7'6". (He ridiculed Turkcan when NY briefly had that guy.) Boki, Mo, Cat. Steve would get the most in return but trading him would be too much a stunner. If we get someone who can shoot, Steve's assists would go up. I wish we would go after SAR.
Sorry but you mighty have to wait till next season, Steve Francis cant be traded for full value till then. Mobley is adapting into JVGs system Steve still wants to do his own thing when he can get away with it . JVG will get tired of SF and seek other players more willing to play JVG Ball.
I dont think they will trade Mo. He has started to play well. Cato will be a monster soon. Just watch he will be a monster and will earn the contract he has.
Yetti, you are such a ho. I swear, did Steve Francis steal your girlfriend or something or did he diss your love letters? What's the deal? Before I thought you just wanted to get into Yao's drawers, nowI just think your jealous.
The only players I could see leaving are Mobley and Cato, but ONLY for a superstar player like a Rasheed Wallace or Shareef Abdur-Rahim. JVG loves those guys, but if it would bring in another potential All-Star, then I see him pullin the trigger.
I bet the Suns thought that Marbury wouldn't be traded. Just goes to show you it can happen anytime, with anyone!
I would not trade Cato. Everything Yao lacks in toughness, Cato makes up for it. If Cato is traded I'd be shocked.
Criteria for being traded: 1) To be good enough that the other team is trading for you. Starters, Mo T, and Pike for a team wanting a 3 pt specialist. 2) Anyone shooting under 40%. JVG has mentioned something about too many starters shooting under 40%. Cato, Francis, and JJ meet this criterium. 3) Too many turnovers (JVG has mentioned high turnovers a lot). Yao, Cato, Francis. 4) Not a PG. JVG mentioned after Miami game the importance of a PG and Rockets just traded Moochie. This criterium is only valid if a PG isn't in return. 5) is redundant. See Nachbar's PT since Pike came off IR. JVG plays tight rotation. Cato is redundant as a center, but would require a PF in return that could do what he does on boards. Francis, Mobley, and JJ are redundant if viewed as SGs. 6) Not a rebounder. JVG has mentioned defensive rebounding a lot. JVG plays Cato as starting PF. 7) Not Yao Ming. There have been numerous connections with Yao being the foundation for Rockets. Unconditional Locks: Yao Ming Conditional locks: Cato is a lock unless trade includes a PF that can rebound and play some C. Francis is a lock unless trade includes a PG who is careful with ball. Mobley is a lock unless trade includes a PG who is careful with ball. Tradeable goods: Mo T, but only to East where he could be the inside offensive presence. JJ Pike
