So basically, what everyone has said is technically correct. Doc Rocket has stated that we will select Ming with the at #1. Then according to ROCKET!!! we will trade his rights in the 3 way with Chicago and LAClips. That way, China will be happy (Ming drafted #1 and to Chicago), Clippers will be happy with JWill at #2, Chicago will be happy with the biggest marketing opportunity since Jordan, and we will be a major force to be reckoned with (esp if the second trade with Memphis happens). Doc Rocket is right. ROCKET!!! is right. Oeilpere is right. Even TroyBaros is right. It all makes sense now... and if it really does happen... WOW!

Hey Rocket!!!, I'm not sure how much of this you can answer, but how reliable do you think your sources are? I only ask this because you haven't frequently posted "insider" information on the BBS before, so you really don't have a record. If they have told you things in the past... how accurate did they end up being? You seem the type to be straight-forward and reliable, but so does Doc, and Clutch has hinted to us at how reliable he can be. I dunno, both scenarios make sense, and I could live with both scenarios, but I have no idea what to believe.

Cat, If they are not reliable, we have a serious problem! Again, this may not happen. People are wierd. Sometimes they get greedy or touchy. **** happens. Things fall through. Life is funny sometimes. You are correct. I don't post much. I usually come around only this time of year. I like to see the varying viewpoints and get a read. It helps in assessment. Could it be Brand and Battier or Odom and Gasol? I would take either one of those combo's. I don't see how we could trade Rice, KT, Collier and #1 to the Clipps for Odom, #8 and #12. Who else could they throw in to make it work under the CBA? Let's just say for arguments sake that we were able to do this trade. That gives us #8, #12, #15, Mo T and TMo to offer Memphis for Gasol and whatever. Ahhhh **** IT, I give up!

(directed toward anyone) After shuttling back and forth between three threads for the past hour and change, it appears that ROCKET!!! himself (as noted by Bay Rock) and aelliot have shed the most light on this possible trade. People speculate Cuttino's talk on the Best Damn Sports Show might be to tempt Krause. Maybe so, but it doesn't quite add up to me, and I don't think ROCKET!!! has really indicated that in his posts. If Krause wants Yao, why would Cuttino talking about the Rocks trading the pick for Odom (to the Clips who want Jason Williams) scare him? If Krause wants JWill, that's another story. But that doesn't seem to fit these potential trade mysteries ROCKET!!!'s laid out. ROCKET!!! posted Kandi, Brand, #8, #12 for the #2, Glen, KT, Collier in one of Troy's thread. The #2 acquired from Chicago with Curry for the #1. I don't see support for Chicago's involvement. Kandi's a free agent, as mentioned, so he's out. The first trade seems to be Brand, #8, #12 straight up for Glen, KT, Collier (give up three; get one; trade picks). Aelliot argued that it's one of the few scenarios that works cap-wise. ROCKET!!! has offered why the Clips might take on Rice, and that JWill is a really hot commodity. ROCKET!!! posted in that same thread about a second trade of Mo T, T Mo, #8, #12 for Battier, Swift, #4. I'm not sure how this would work out, but ROCKET!!! has indicated clearly in this thread that the trade is not nearly as solid as the first one. And the Yoda quote ROCKET!!! was referring to was from his post just prior where he said "The future is cloudy. Uncertain it is." (or something like that.) I don't know how it work out, especially since I haven't been able to access RealGM lately (my browser keeps crashing). But that it's Memphis (team we have a history with) for Battier seems to be the key elements here. Hence, it is Brand (All-Star PF) and Battier (very good SF, almost All-Star) that has ROCKET!!! excited. And for good reason, if you ask me. This is my best guess, and I feel pretty confident about it, but I bet I'm off at least some. Rocket!!! ending up with Brand and Battier would be awesome by itself, let alone getting good extras. Still, I remain skeptical. I just don't see the incentives as great enough for the two teams to pull the trigger. I can see why they might think about doing it ... Clipps: have a hard-on for JW ... West: wants to make an imprint on his team and get players he wants in there(and likes the deep draft, esp big men at the later selections, and isn't necesarily enamored with the players he has now), and maybe get as good a shot as possible at getting Lebron ... But talentwise the trades are just too lopsided in the Rocks favor and too good to be true, imo. Hell, I'd be excited with just Brand + pick/decent player. Hope it pans out the way you think it might, that would be an awesome team.

Hey Rocket!!!, were you around last year during this time when Doc Rocket posted the famous 'cryptic' posts? The reason I ask is that out of all of the info provided in those posts nothing happened that I can see. I mean EG was a deal that went down during the draft. Maybe I missed something but I don't remember Doc refering to that (exept something about he will be young). I realize Doc posts speculative trade info that is actually being discussed by the organization. Some of it happens some doesn't. What kind of stuff were you hearing last year that happened? ....... If you can say (by the way, it's gotta be Brand. Who else would be that much of an upgrade? Is there anyway to get Brand AND Odem? I can't think of how or why that can happen BUT. DAMN!!!!)
Frankly I would much rather have Brand and Battier than Brand and Odom. Battier may not be as athletically gifted as Odom but he is much more stable. When you already have talented but immature players, you need a calming force, not a catalyst for more calamity Battier is probably exponentially smarter than Odom - who's got to be one of the dumbest players in the NBA.
I totally agree about Battier. championship teams always need a player like Battier. the most frequent compliment you hear about him is that he does whatever it takes to make his team better. frankly, I'd be pretty surprised if West/Yoda didn't want to hang on to him. Brand, Battier, Griff, Francis and Mobley would be my new favorite team. * * yes, that's supposed to be ironic.

I keep thinking that Jerry West wants Jay Williams really bad.... he's not about to put up with that Jason Williams (White Chocolate) nonsense. Jerry West is supposedly very intrigued by the potential Jason Williams (White Chocolate), and have previously tried to trade for him. If anyone can control Jason Williams it should be West. Anyway I have a very hard time seeing a Memphis/Huston trade that would work ... Jerry West has said repeatedly that we need more toughness/defense and lets face it we aren't going to get that by trading Battier to Huston ...
I posted this on another thread...is it close??? It's obvious that the Rockets want Ming, but they are pushing the idea that they are willing to make a trade if they receive the right offer. It's also well know that they want to unload salary.
