I like mobley probaly better then alot of people on this site, but in crucnh time mobley was never able to stop manu.

I still would like mobley though if we can get him in a good deal.

Mobley is a slasher. Maybe he would work, and help provide the pressure on the defense with TMac by slashing like Gino and Parker do in addition to playing decent defense?

Mobley would fit the bill. An excellent slasher and one of the few players in the league that I think can out-work Ginobili.

Daniels is also another option. When the Sonics faced the Spurs, AD was often matched up with Ginobili (w/ Ridnour playing the point) and did an excellent job of penetrating and making Ginobili work on defense.

A couple of more riskier options would be Ricky Davis (headcase), Derek Anderson (injuries), or Sprewell (age). Guards with very good ballhandling skills that can penetrate. If Ginobili has a weakness, I think it's his on-the-ball defense. He's a great help defender (picking up steals, drawing charges, etc.) but is never really forced to do much on-the-ball defense thanks to having a player like Bowen next to him.

By the way I just realized Spurs drafted Luis Scola in the 2nd round a couple of year back.

That's just sick !!!! That dude is as good as Manu......

The Rockets shouldn't worry about getting players to stop a particular team. They're not good enough to do that yet. The only thing CD and JVG should worry about is getting players that make the team better.

I don't think it's necessary to find Ginobali/Parker stoppers. There are many ways to slow down a player. Having a good offensive player at guards will make the SA guards work on defense. Having athletic perimeter players cut down on penetration. Having a solid interior help defender at PF cuts down the easy layups.

The Rockets might have absolutely the worst guards possible to match up with SA. Sura, Wesley, and Barry are old, slow, and have limited offensive game. Mike James is the only decent matchup we have, and he can only come off the bench because of his limited passing skills.

On a similar note. Can you imagine having Dream in his prime with the current zone rules. Dream could just stand around the paint without having to worry about illegal D. Just look at the success Mutumbo is still having at his age.

Ginobili would never be able to get to the rack. Just makes me further realize how much I took having Dream all those years for granted.

I think someone mentioned this but you can't attack Gino on the defensive end because he has Bowen to guard your best slasher :p

Unless you can get two guys that can kickass on the offensive end, you'll never be able to wore Gino down. Which is what makes this Spurs team so good t.T

I guess that is why the Sonics had as good of success as any team against the spurs. They really have 4 perimeter guys that you have chase around.

Since Bowen will be guarding T-Mac in any Rockets-Spurs matchup, we only need one playmaker at a guard position.
