Look at guys buried deep on the bench when given the playing time .......
Guys like Scola, Cat Mobley, Gil Arenas, Boozer, Bud, Mandry for example ..... They would rot on the bench beyond mediocrity before finally ending up in Home Depot like West

Theres just not enough pt to go around and coaches approval or favorite over certain players.

Meh heck Lin scored more than melo, amare and chandler the other day ...

Theres some injustice sometimes, but its the nba ...

Just as Artest has become Metta World Peace, Landry has apparently become Mandry... It sounds more macho, manly and powerful.

Free T-Will, Play Thabeet, Flynn for prez...:p

Mobley started the vast majority of his rookie year (at point guard) and remained a starter throughout his career, Scola started about half the games his rookie year (but played in all 82), Arenas started 30 games his first year, Boozer started half, etc.

So basically none of those guys listed "turned it around" when given playing time after being buried on the bench. And the majority of players listed were pretty much career starters.

    Nice thread.

Another intelligent and thoughtful thread composed by the "Free TWill" crowd.

-Your thread is very convoluted, and poorly composed, but from what I get from it is that you are saying that there are hidden gems at the end of the Rockets bench. I would say that I agree with you.

However, those 3 or 4 players just didnt work as hard as others in practice to earn game time. McHale is oldschool, very much how Adelman was, and regardless of your God given abilities, they just arent going to put you on the court unless you have proven you can execute plays correctly, and help the team defensively.

It is what it is, and its out of Morey's control. He can only put the best possible talent on the bench and the coach decide who to play. The day he starts making coaching decisions is the day where I would finally agree with most of Clutchfans that its time for him to go.

I can guarentee you that at least one of the 09er's will get picked up by a bad team and explode for big stats one game. After that happens the GARM will go crazy with everyone on here wanting Morey's head for letting a player like that walk from the team. Thats the intelligence we are dealing with here and how predictable it is.

Morey can put talent on the bench, but he cant make it get off the bench. Thats rightfully up to the player and the coach.

Aside from at the SG and PF/C positions, all the other players on our bench that have been placed their had a shot at playing time but couldn't close the deal. Maybe the short training camp and pre season did them in but their attitudes are probably what buried them.
