Anyway, with Sengun I just want to see him get a little bit meaner and tougher. He's never going to be a quick high-flyer, he's never going to block a ton of shots or be able to switch onto guards and stay with them. But he can body guys up, take charges, and generally be frustrating to play against. I say we bring in Chuck Hayes in the offseason as an assistant coach to give him and the other young bigs some lessons on how to be a better defender.
Not sure why, but I thought Chuck Hayes worked for the Rockets in some capacity. But maybe that ended when Daryl Morey left and the unfortunate "Shut up and listen"/Stone/Silas era began.
I did say they won't be ready for how quickly he becomes a backup right? Why would you take a generational rim protector and play him away from the rim? On what planet is Sengun quick enough to play forward he's barely quick enough to play center... Check those turnover/usage rates and tell me why the same energy isn't kept up with Sengun? https://stathead.com/basketball/pcm...urce=bbr&utm_medium=sr_xsite&utm_id=sengual01
If anyone starts a post declaring Alp's height as 6'9", I can't take him/her seriously. It is either a Freudian slip or mentality problem. Alp is the best player in the current squad but might end up as second only to Tari Eason. Anyone not praising Alp and Tari is not worth to discuss basketball. The guy even does not know the name of the player he tries to mention. Why did you bother to answer?
Alp was once 6'9" but it was in 2018, 5 years ago. He is 2.09 m now, something like 6'10"1/2. It is up to people to describe his height as 6'10 or 6'11 but anyone says 6'9" must be little bit behind. Few days ago we were discussing the current state of Rockets and mentioning usual suspects such as bad ownership, bad management, etc.. I add CLUELESS FANBASE. I would like to thank you for verifying my observation. Having fans your type of flock, Rockets needs no enemy. Alp will be 22/14/8 per 36 next year under an average HC and will be all-star soon whether you will be happy or not. Objective observations are very good, biased people's selective perceptions aren't.
He is a long-time poster who might have some issues (age). If I am not mistaken, he was retired even 20 years ago. Could be 80?
You can argue over 1" with your lady, I don't care about that. I just posted what was on the website. He's 6'10"? Cool he's 6'10" and needs to get better on defense. Select that. If you don't think I'd be happy with one of these non-all-stars developing into all-stars you are pathetically mistaken. I wouldn't care if it was Daishen Nix and Anthony Lamb pulling some JarJar Binks **** all the way to the HOF as long as it's for my team.
I would cross that ship when that arrives, maybe 4 yrs from now. At age 20 we dont know how these guys turn out. Trying to figure out the roles right now makes zero sense to me. Just let them grow their skills first and then later you fogure out how they all fit. Saying everything needs to be built around Sengun doesnt really make any sense just look at Domantas in Sac. He is a major cog of that team but clearly he isnt the only cog they have Fox, Huerter, Murray etc Sengun has enough versatility to fit in most offenses as long as he isnt relegated to an off the ball Jumpshooter.
It is very obvious that Alp and Tari are two shining stars of the current squad. We hope JGreen and Jabari will get consistency and catch Alp&Tari. Add them '23 pick, it is a championship core.
According to this, he is still listed as staff. https://rocketswire.usatoday.com/lists/2022-2023-houston-rockets-roster-after-the-trade-deadline/
this is why every great player needs BOTH great management, and great coaching otherwise the boldest scum will always surface to the top every single time instead of the best... the trouble is if alpi tries to 'impose his will' it would only give more excuses for the nepotists and bureaucrats to bench him and nerf him even more... remember Silas already falsely accused him of being selfish in his first year here LOL regardless of him being the most team oriented player....now imagine if he really tried to be selfish...i can only imagine the outrage.... i think the toxic atmosphere here pretty much reflects how is the situation in the club...most of the posters are operating in ignorance, swimming in a sea of prejudices, their brains being fogged with biases towards foreigners and anything differing from dumb archetypes they idolize, and alpi is doing a tremendous job taking all the circumstances into consideration... also when you are a team oriented player, competing vs your teammates, iso mentality and 'enforcing your will' makes you hate basketball instead of loving it...it takes you out of your element...this is why good /team oriented players need management/coaching protection from ballhogers empty chuckers and iso mentality guys
Dont let your grass is greener syndrome makes you gloss over the fact that: Alperen Sengun is 27th in personals fouls drawn(4.5 per game) in NBA right behind James Harden at 26 (4.7 per game). https://www.nba.com/stats/players/misc?PerMode=PerGame&dir=A&sort=PFD TAKE THAT FOR DATA! @J.R.
Lol. Jalen Green is absolutely a shining superstar if Tari is a shining star. Understand the concept of roles. Division of labor. Engineering talent in a engineering firm is more important to operations of the company in terms of scarcity and difficulty of talent than the front receptionist. Hence salary difference. Jalen Green has a significantly more difficult role than Tari. NBA defenses aren't hedging towards Tari even when he doesn't have the ball. NBA defenses don't constantly have a primary guard defender and a big and or long wing always making sure to cover his driving lanes. Ask NBA opponents and when they gameplan for this team who is more of a rising star. Jabari is not getting that treatment that Green is either and Jabari as of now with his current abilities will fall apart if he had that role as he can't put the ball down on the floor much. Sengun and Green are the only ones on this team that can handle that treatment. Sengun is more consistent at it because he has more former pro experience. Green still has the higher highs where he actually takes over games and has led to actual wins against good teams. Green's highs are higher than Sengun but his lows are lower and more frequent. And that's a sign of more talent and less refinement. A more consistent Jalen Green is more impactful to winning than a consistent Alpi.
