I can't believe that he didn't give Novak any minutes with a 23 pt. lead in the third, just an appearance, something. JVG is so unbelievably rigid. I am really tired of his sourpuss attitude, really tired of it. But the Rockets would have to have a lousy record for him to get booted, and I like most fans are certainly not for that.

I would have to say that JVG's hard hearted attitude is the only thing I was upset about in this game.

Blowing the lead, understandable for the 4th game in 5 days.

Not letting the kid play for at least one trip up and down the court in front of a crowd that was dying to see him play was absolutely heartless. Novak may not mean much to JVG but people in that stadium bought tickets specifically to see their hometown hero play in the NBA.

One play wouldn't have made or broke the game for the Rockets and the fact that the kid didn't even get on the court tells me JVG needs to go to the Wizard and ask for a heart.

I agree. He should have at least put the kid in for a couple of minutes. Van Gundy's like that. If he doesn't think you've earned it, he just doesn't give a damn.

    STOP hating on JVG

The reason he didnt Put Novak on was because the Bucks were red hot at the begining of the fourth. He shouldnt sacrifice the team's performance for some petty crap like letting Novak show his face. Without Novak's horrid defence, we were already loosing in the fourth...who knows what would have happend if Novak did play

    Last time I checked

sounds as if this is going to be the last time novak is ever going to play in his life.

so the heck what, this isn't about feel good stories, i it really meant something to the town, then the bucks should have picked him up.

Let me make sure I understand the complaints here.
    1) We had such an insurmountable lead in the 3rd quarter, we should have relaxed and given the kid some free minutes.
    2) We damn near blew the whole lead by the middle of the 4th.

    Hellooooooooooooooo ...

No lead is safe that early. You want to buy Novak some minutes? Make the lead truly insurmountable by the middle or late 4th. Which is exactly why you play your best squad until then.

That's it pick on my post. I am absolutely aware that JVG has to put the team first. So should everyone else. But Novak getting one play in that game tonight was not going to make or break the game.

All JVG had to do was put him in for a minute and take him back out.

It's not that hard a concept to grasp. I'm not saying this was the cornerstone of the kid's career... just that JVG should have given a little to this player.

    And he didn't.

I thought I was being smart by adding him to my fantasy team after the preseason. I just dropped him.

Damn you, Jeff Van Gundy. Damn you to HELL!!!!

JVG is a punk, I don't think he inspires anyone on the team. I would rather have Calvin Murphy or Mario Ellie as our coach.

Actually, I believe it was a good time to put Novak in when we led by more than 20 in the 3rd. It's not like Novak is totally useless on the court. If he hit a couple of 3s, while we had a good lead, that would demoralize the opponent. What could have been more disheartening than when your home crowd cheered for some dagger shots by your opponent? JVG could always pull him out if the lead dwindled a bit.

that 20 point lead lasted about 2 minutes. yeah it was homecoming for novak but the most important thing is getting the win and there's no reason to believe that novak was a better option to hold the lead than hayes or battier. some of you just look for anything huh?

If the home fans wanted the Rockets to watch Novak, maybe they can get the home team to agree to not to try and come back and win.

But instead, they put Skinner on Yao and kept Bell and Redd in the game (and allowed them to actually try and make shots and defend the Rockets). So, we have no choice but to not give Novak minutes.

JVG won't credit him until he could play tough defence.
BTW, I don't know what's his best position in the court.PF?SF?

dude, please remove those arrows. it makes it difficult to read when you have to scroll for every post. adding more arrows doesn't make your statement any more true.
