What seems to work against the Jazz on offense is pick and rolls and driving to the basket. That's not Bobby Jackson's game. He certainly didn't come close to playing his game, either shooting 3 for 15. I understand why Adelman was hesitant to put in Brooks...he completely lost Price for a wide open three in the first half and still looks pretty clueless out there. I think Adelman may as well give Brooks a shot at changing the tempo earlier in the game. If Utah tries to post Williams up against him it will take Utah out of their offense, so it's worth a gamble. All is not lost, though. The Rockets will always bring a solid effort on defense. That will keep them in every game. Maybe they'll catch lightning in a bottle and steal a win in Utah. No point in giving up now.
Brooksball you really make me laugh. You came in this topic with the same pessimistic attitude you had when you stated that the Rockets have no chance of making the playoffs. But after some people in this topic called you out, you quickly changed your tune and tempered all your negativity with some insincere optimism in a pathetic attempt to look more moderate. To me you're just a smarter version of rofflesaurus who's more careful not to get demoted to 'rookie' status. I dont exactly have the best impression of you based on your 'no chance of playoffs' topic though, so maybe I'm biased, and this is just my opinion, so take this with a grain of salt.
They need to do some boxing out drills. Especially Scola. Deke got caught slippin too a few time. Hell everybody got caught slipping. I just hate how they get to all tha loose balls.... We need some ppl that play tha passing lanes too.
Think about how many of our players that was their first playoff experience. They were nervous, they were wild, they missed easy shots and made silly turnovers. Battier, Mutombo, McGrady, all seemed in their element, but the rest of the guys were just a train wreck. Mentally they just weren't there, and who can blame them with their inexperience. We can beat this team if we settle down and keep our heads on straight.
I never changed my opinion about the OP. I only changed my tone to avoid conflict and explained my thoughts in more detail. How is that pathetic? I think a better word is "appropriate". And, get real, man. You're the one making me laugh now. God forbid I should become a rookie in the ClutchFans forum. Oh no! I'm shivering with fear. Seriously, get outta here. I don't care that much what you, or anybody else in here, thinks about me as long as I am conducting myself appropriately. When I get out of line, I will be the first to try to put myself into check. The only reason I toned it down was that I realized I went a little overboard with the beer-guzzling comment and wanted to be more civil. I do have some morals. If you go back and read my posts, you will see that my opinions were the same but were stated, as you said, more moderately. That should be a good thing. Instead, you seem to be discouraging moderation. I guess you wanted me to stay overly-negative and succumb to the behavior that way too many people in here already exhibit. I simply tried to do the right thing. Moreover, I've been more optimistic in here for a while. Part of the reason for this change absolutely has to do with the reactions I got from my infamous thread. This is not my house so I will absolutely make attempts to adjust my behavior as long as I want to be part of this community. I have always felt this way. Additionally, I never have been a total pessimist even if that one thread made it appear so. Regardless, I do appreciate your in depth analysis of me. I didn't know you cared so much.
I believe this team has what it takes to make a turnaround. Guys like Scola and Dikembe weren't taking **** from the Jazz yesterday, and Adelman's teams have proven to be quick learners so far this year. Last year, I'd have said no chance, we were either better than them or worse, a JVG-coached team would have taken two years to adjust. All we need now is for our young players to SHOW UP, catch their freaking balls when it comes to them (Hayes), get the freaking rebound when it comes to them (Hayes), finish lay-ups (Scola, Landry), keep looking to draw fouls (Scola, Landry), make open shots (Brooks, Novak) and stay on the bench (Head). I actually thought Brooks did a decent job yesterday, besides his inability to hit shots. The way Luther played was unforgivable, I don't want to ever see him in a Rockets uniform again after that baseline backdoor pass to nobody. It bounced three times before going out of bounds, and it was such a bad pass Utah couldn't even pick it off.
Head can get to tha basket tho,He's not particulary a good finisher, but chance are Utah will foul him if he does get to tha basket.
We could use a lil inspiration from this guy especially at 4:04 <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jBx8LSwqRpE&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jBx8LSwqRpE&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
LMAO!!...Great job artest cause I hate Harpring, but dont get kicked out....but I love the hard fouls on harpring
That's exactly what we need to do. We gotta match them foul for foul. You heard Artest when he grabbed Kirilenko NO LAYUPS!!
I think playing harder was the solution, we seem content on walking it up the court and cutting slow allowing Utah's defensive rotation get set to leave Deke or Chuck alone and take advantage of Luther and Novak on D.
I dont like the idea of him getting tossed, but u see the way he protected martin? Those hard fouls on yao, Artest would give one back. Its just like baseball on the bean ball. Not only is he tough, but he can play and dictates lineups. he broke jordan ribs in a pickup game. if he would challenge mr jordan, u think he cares about any non rox?
We need somebody to deliver a flagrant foul, preferably on Harpring, Okur, or Boozer. And I'm not talking about a Robert Horry cheapshot. I mean a Bill Laimbeer style takedown. Or something that results in blood. But we don't have nobody capable of doing so. I'm not saying we're soft, but nobody on this team has that retaliation mentality. Nobody on the team is gonna send a message with a hard foul. Our best bet is Mutombo clears the way with some elbows, but they're never intentional. Something like this would suffice. Thing about this also is that whole Duke team is about as hard as hot butter. We're an average team in terms of toughness. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/lHhujWKsHRY&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/lHhujWKsHRY&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
Play hard? How about play DEFENSE! The Rockets played soft on the defensive end, they let the Jazz push them around in the paint and they let them get in their sets without disruption, the Jazz shot 52%. I don't care how many open looks the offense gets we aren't going to win another game letting the Jazz shoot over 50% from the field, they are too physical a team to beat when they aren't challenged defensively. We simply played wimpy defense and unless our guys start pushing them out of the paint and disrupting their pick and rolls we are going to have a very hard time. We won this year playing with ball movement, hitting 3's and playing hard nose defense. I believe we have a chance to win every game we hold them below 45% shooting.
Harpring is a dirty player but then again .. most of the Jazzholes are They get away with those Seattle type fouls I say that because they feel like it they do it so much the refs will have to let some go . . because it would grind the game toa halt .. . They foul foul foul and foul . .. the Refs may call 2 out fo 4 Just like Seattle use to do with they Illegal Defense back in the day played it everytime down knowing the refs would not call it everytime and stop the game Rocket River
