That's gotta suck for him - not only does he accidentally shoot himself, but then he gets 2 years in prison for it.
So, one rich NFL player kills a person and only receives 30 days in jail. Another rich NFL player carries a weapon into a nightclub, shoots himself, and receives 2 years in prison. Gotta love our criminal justice system.
It is still a 20 month minimum and will miss at least two seasons. Michael Vick got a shorter sentence. I thought at most Burress would miss one season.
Seriously it seems like every sentence handed out in the courts today is just plain arbitrary the same case could have gotten plax 60 days if it was a different jury/judge 2 years and he shot himself?? what type of sentence does carrying a concealed weapon usually have? for a first time offender?
This entire situation is ridiculous. Everything from the idiot shooting himself in the first place to this cruel and unreasonable prison sentence. Whoever said it earlier is right -- Plaxico definitely wins the "Worst Way to Kill Your Career" award.
This is weird. I would love to hear the justification of Plax's sentence, as compared to Donte Stallworth's or Micheal Vick's sentence. Asinine is the only word that can describe this.
New York has some of the toughest gun laws in the country, I think unlawful gun possession in NY carries a mandatory 2 year sentence.
In Stallworth's case, the man jaywalked and ran across traffic, so they could never prove that his drunken was the primary reason the guy got killed. Not arguing, but that's one reason his sentence was shorter.
