They don't make them anymore, but try and see if you can find any Pioneer ELITE Kuro TV's anywhere. I still think they're the best TV's ever made.
I've got a Panny VT25. Its an awesome TV for 2D and 3D. I tried to make sure I broke it in, buy wasn't overly concerned with doing it to the exact instructions.
You should buy a Panasonic Viera. Period. It is the best television (at least for regular tv ie not 3d.). And it ain't even close.
Uh, no. My Pioneer KRP-600M (patched with the Elite's ISFccc) and PRO-101FD blow the Panny (and any other current plasma in 2D viewing) out of the water despite both having been discontinued. That I got both monitors for ~66% off makes any comparisons to competitors ludicrous.
Pioneer sold the technology to Panasonic. Plus comparing discontinued products to current ones that can longer be purchased is dumb.
My 6 year old Hitachi plasma still doesn't have burn-in despite the fact I've left it stuck on the NBA League Pass logo/screen for hours by accident and left it paused on a dvd for an hour or two. It will show a burn-in immediately after doing something like that, but if I let the tv run for a while, I see no damage. The biggest downside to plasmas may be that if something goes wrong with the picture, you may be better off just buying a new tv. Some other con's with plasma : Usually heavier than comparable LCD's. Usually run hotter than comparable LCD's. Usually use more energy than comparable LCD's.
Panasonic viera televisions for the 2d experience are end of technology improvements in my experience for hd. The screen, fonts, everything is perfect hd. All of these extra color technologies aren't improvements. Vieras are highest quality hd tvs you'll ever find. So now you are going to see tvs built with internet browsing capabilities, 3d tvs and what not. If you not worried about all of that crap and just want a quality hd tv you should strongly consider a viera. This is the one I have: panasonic tc-l37s1 And you may be able to get a "better" picture, but I doubt it. This picture is amazing.
So... I pulled the trigger on my plasma. After fiddling with the the picture options all day, I'm watching the Rockets game and all I can say is WOW. I'll never go back to a LCD!
Everyone of my plasmas had burned images into the screen. I hope this one works out for you. I have the lg bd590 blueray. It is an amazing product.
I bought the 63" Samsung plasma last year and it is STILL the most beautiful boner-inducing piece of electronic loveliness I have ever owned.
so clutchfans tell me if i got a good deal... got this tv on a special no tax and no shipping from amazon for $867. (done some research off and on for quite a while and finally pulled the trigger on a new tv) on further review i cant use the hyperlink button because im on a public pc. but here is the long version. http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-TC-...O132/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1294077605&sr=8-3 i think i got a pretty good deal. i think this tv was $1200-1300 around 6 months ago. ill get it in a few days, hope it has a pretty good picture.
I bought my Panasonic Viera plasma back in 2006. It is still running great with no burn in. I had it ISF calibrated and the picture still looks amazing after almost 5 years of use!
I know I'm late to this debate, but you folks should consider a rear-projection DLP. I have a Samsung Plasma, Sony Bravia LCD and a Mitsubishi rear-projection DLP, and the Mitsu beats the other two hands down, and it's bigger for the price - $1400 for a 73-inch 3D.
