Damn this thread! Damn them all to HELL! ------------------ Women can not fart, belch or burp...therefore they must b**** or they will explode.
Lol crash. Since spoilers galore were already given, the planet they were on was clearly not earth. The multiple moons should give that away. I wasn't intending this topic to be a spoiler one, just wondering what people thought of the movie. Perhaps my wording encouraged people to give me their explanations of the end. Either way, knowing about the end shouldn't really alter your perception of the movie since it has nothing to do with the rest of the plot. ------------------
One could argue that the ending to The Sixth Sense didn't have anything to do with the plot either, but I'd have been really pissed to hear that ending before going. ------------------ When you make an assumption, you make an ass out of Uma Thurman.
I went out of my way not to look at the POTA newspaper review last friday before seeing it myself (I find they reveal more than I want to know often). I would have thought posters who were concerned about hearing too much about the movie wouldn't select the thread. On the other hand maybe we did give too much away without forewarning, I think it is a tough call in this case. I guess the multiple moons would poke a hole in the only Earth theory. But I think the multiple Planet theory just seems extra hokie (what Thade went to earth but back in time). Makes me want to read the book. I know the movies may deviate, but I would imagine the book is much tighter on these things, anyone read it??
I think the book's plot is more 'in line' with the first movie. I'm not completely sure, but I know enough about the first to say it and this one are different plot-wise. And I'd just have to say if I was a filmmaker I'd be wary about making 'remakes' (If you could call this one. I don't, really). Just having that attached to your film already puts a few strikes against you. For some reason, no matter how the film is, people automatically consider that a negative. ------------------ Homer: "Hey, what's that guy hooked to?" Nurse: "A respirator. It breathes for him." Homer: "And here I am using my own lungs like a sucker!"
To say the sixth sense ending didn't have anything to do with the plot is a pretty big stretch. It made the events of the previous hour and a half much more clear. I think in the case of POTA you would be hard pressed to find many people who would say that the ending to the film shed any light on the previous hour and a half of the movie or that the "surprise" was anything but confusing. ------------------
Achebe: I don't debate about the history of the car, b/c I don't know what the history of the car is. I have a general motto: unless you're going to give a topic the time it takes to understand it, you should probably shut the **** up. To me, it's all a matter of degree. I might argue about evolution with most of the people on this board, but if I run into Stephen J. Gould I'm going to shut the hell up and listen. Depends entirely on the context... ------------------ Clutchcity.net... source for all your Rockets, Astros, political, music, humor, and Gordita news.
Guess what? Planet of the Apes' unofficial gross was 69.5 million dollars!!!! That would be the most all time for a non-holiday weekend, breaking the Mummy Returns' record of 68.1 million dollars. The overall record for weekend gross is the Lost World, which grossed over 72 million. Not to shabby, Tim Burton... ------------------ Check out my site: The Steve Francis Fan Site
Multiple moons??? Damn it I missed that. Pisses all over my theory... ------------------ Reporter asks "How close were you to the victim?" Shorty says,"Real close until the roofies wore off. Also, Whats up with the video feed before Wahlberg launches his pod. The feed is from the crashed mother ship on the planet. All of the other video feeds where from the past (Hitler) so it makes it seem like the mother ship went into the past instead of the future and crashed on an empty earth. Then the humans and apes from the mother ship took over the earth. So by Walhberg leaving in the pod and the mother ship chasing him then he changed the Earth? So the monkeys created their own civilization that mimics our's??? That's my take. I left the theatre in confusion... I give the movie 3.0 stars out of 4. The original was much better, but this one was good. The behind the scenes special on HBO really shows how hard all of the makeup and stunts were. I really liked the "Ape School" where they taught them the characteristics of the apes. ------------------ Reporter asks "How close were you to the victim?" Methinks Achebe was glad to demonstrate his understanding of the topic . So, of those of you that saw the movie, who would go again? ------------------ Clutchcity.net... source for all your Rockets, Astros, political, music, humor, and Gordita news.
