1.) You need an impact player who has a deal two years or less, so they don't impede the summer of Rondo/LMA/Love. Probably going to be an older guy as they are going to be cheaper. The two best options are Pau Gasol and Kevin Garnett. Both fill a position of need, both can probably be had cheap. Both don't impair future flexibility. 2.) You can spend your money on above average starters, but you can't give out bad contracts. If you can get any combination of Smith, Mayo, Milsap, Iggy on a good contract, so that they are trade assets when it is time to make our next big move, you make that happen.
Go for Aldridge and Wiggins in 2014 and try to deal some good players away so we can have a chance at a high pick that we would pack with Parsons / another young buck that might step up this year to get #1 pick and select Wiggins  One can dream right? Anyways, the PF this year is not necessary because we want to be players in 2014 and for that high draft pick we need to see what D-Mo & TJones can do.
Are we really going to do this again? You almost said the "T" word here. Wiggins will be drafted by either the Bobcats, Magic, Cavaliers, Kings, or Phoenix next Summer. No way in hell any of those teams trade next years lottery picks in the top 5. The only player that could net a top 5 pick in next years draft is James Harden. Since Parsons, Asik, & Lin will all be very close to free agency, no team will give up much to acquire them when they could just go for them in free agency a few months later.
Never underestimate the depth and cunning qualities of Mr. Daryl Morey It is a pipedream but I can see if TJones / D-Mo steps up this year and we can get a high pick and pair that with Parsons, maybe in a 3-way trade, a team like the Bobcats might bite.
Either Wiggins is the next great superstar player to come out of the draft or he will be exposed as a "not as good as the hype" type of player. If he turns out to be a bonified superstar then half the teams in the NBA will start breaking down their rosters in advance just for the mere shot of winning the lottery to have a chance at drafting him. Look at what teams did in preparation for Anthony Davis months before the draft... and that was just Anthony Davis. If this player is viewed as a franchise altering player, it will take nothing short of Lebron James to get this kid with a #1 pick. That's a theory proven true over the course of history. Teams NEVER trade the #1 pick. Those teams have suffered for decades to get the chance at getting a player like him. No way in hell anyone trades the #1 pick next year unless Wiggins turns out to not be that good.... In that case, you definitely dont want to trade for him anyways.
Hehe I had a dream today, but it was different from yesterday so now it's giving up Lin & Asik for Dwight this year + Harden, Parsons, picks for Wiggins next year. Select Glen Rice Jr. this year and targeting Aldridge next year and BAM: Championship team baby!
