I didn't touch that because my bias is too strong. I hate it because spell check is a crutch that only exacerbates poor/lazy spelling and grammar.

Amazing. The guy makes a post to bring attention to a mistake he made that many wouldn't have known about otherwise and you guys are clowning him for it.

You'd think he was Macbeth or something.

    Basso,

There is really nothing wrong with using another person's writing to make a point, but one should give credit ~ not change a word or two and call it one's own.

this was my point, but clearly i'm unable to articulate it in a fashion that resonates with those who post here. enjoy the echo chamber; i'm gonna light out for the territory ahead, because rimmy, he's gonna 'sivilize me, and I can't stand it. I been there before.

basso, if you were truly owning up to what you did and apologizing for it, then I apologize for any comments I made to the contrary.

But you from what you wrote, it seemed like you were doing your best just to minimize it, as if what you did wasn't really all that wrong.

Please read what you wrote and the way it strikes people. Understand that if you had a different intention, it didn't come off that way.

Also read what the people here wrote in response to you. Folks aren't rooting for you to go down in flames. It seems like most folks are hoping you can just own up to it, so that we can move on. Look at Deckard's post in particular.

Dang it basso... Realize I was ready to drop this. After I made my point in the other thread, I dropped it and didn't bring it up in any other thread until you started this one. Here, I vented a little about the situation and offered to move on and you come back attacking me again. The cycle repeated and I withdrew the olive branch.

I now realize you did the best you could in this thread and since I don't want you to pick up your ball and go home, let's just end it here.

(And by the way, you forgot to credit Twain in your post. ;) )

I don't think you meant to include my post in that. Otherwise, I am confused because I was essentially agreeing with you (to the extreme, yo).

Heh! You're right, I apparently was replying to your post and just added everyone else's to it without removing yours.

Welcome to the weirdo club, population 2 so far. :)

You say : "'Ere thrice the sun done salutation to the dawn"
And you claim these words as your own
But I've read well, and I've heard them said
A hundred times (maybe less, maybe more)
    If you must write prose/poems
The words you use should be your own
Don't plagiarise or take "on loan"
    'Cause there's always someone, somewhere
With a big nose, who knows
And who trips you up and laughs
    When you fall
Who'll trip you up and laugh
    When you fall

That was a riff on a passage from the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. Now, who's the illiterate? Here, I'll help you out...

    Crumsowned!!

Funnily enough, I was just reading the ebook of that classic.
It's one of the many great books that have been released into the public digital domain.
    Graffenburg project iirc.
