Fellas--Wanting to get BBS feedback regarding any cool places to check out before an Astros game. I am traveling from out of town with a friend of mine who is a big Cubs fan. I figure we will have some time to kill before the game and I was wanting to drink and eat a bit we get to the MMP area. What area or place would you all suggest? I was thinking of Rice Village, but not sure what is there exactly... any help would be great.
This. Though I'm also intrigued by this question. I'm going back to Houston for the first time since Summer 2003, and catching my first Astros game at MMP since 2000 or 2001. Kid friendly though.
What was that? St Louis Cardinals...22-19 Cincinnati Reds...21-19...1/2 gb Pittsburgh Pirates...19-22...3 gb [*]Houston Astros...18-23...4 gb Milwaukee Brewers...17-24...5 gb [*]Chicago Cubs...15-26...7 gb
Since the Astros began in 1962: Astros: 6 division titles, 1 pennant, 2 WCs Cubs: 5 division titles, 0 pennants, 1 WC #Winning
Who cares they both suck and will always do. Idc if im from houston and the astros is "our" team. They both will not win anything for the next 5+ years.
How many titles do the Asstros have again? Ohh that's right. Cubs will be contenders in the next 4 years. Theo will fix this mess. I don't know if I can say the same for loserville in Minute Maid Park though.
I just listed them. If you want WS titles, they have 0, which happens to be tied with the Cubs over the last 50 years.
Exactly. 0. Cubs have 2. Cubs >>>>>>> Lastros It doesn't matter if we haven't won in 103 years. We still have more. Psht. Get some fans to actually fill up that ****hole of a ballpark, then talk.
LOL. Nothing amuses me more than sports fans who bizarrely claim pride in championships won prior to their lives, and in this case, not even in the last century. Way to go, you keep on celebrating that 1908 title! PS: The Astros have a lot of reason for optimism with their new management team, too. As for the actual point of the thread, I think Lucky's remains the best bet, especially on a weeknight. With any luck, you can park for free in their lot or on the surrounding streets. Really good (and inexpensive) bar food and nice happy hour specials until 7. There's a free shuttle that goes back-and-forth to MMP, too. That said, the walk is only about four blocks if you don't want to wait.
Just using it as an argument for the Cubs being a better franchise with better fans. I don't like to brag about titles for any of my teams. But in the case of the Astros having 0, it had to be brought up. I'm sure they do. Both teams are rebuilding. I just have faith that Theo Epstein will come through like he did for the Red Sox.
Oh come on, only a lame dick piece of garbage like Tinman would bring up a championship from 1908. You're way better than that cracker poseur.
To the OP. The Original Ninfa's is my favorite spot for before an Astros' game. There is a shuttle, but I've never taken it, and just drive over.
Repped. He's a magician. It'll take a while for this team to contend again. Once our farm system gets going, we'll be back. But if there's one GM that I think can turn this mess around, it's definitely Theo. And, sorry for derailing the OP. Didn't mean for this to go this far. lol
