Rocket G: your endorsement of Aunt Bea's makes me want to eat there this week before I go back to school, but it's definitely a trip for me. Anyways, thanks for all the suggestions, I wish I could have tried some of them out. As for bowling, lol, we were actually bowling. As for bowling to 2 AM? I know a place where it's sorta free....
You can bowl in a lot of places from 12-2 a.m. on Friday or Saturday night with a "midnight special" deal. I spent too much of my formative years in the mid-90's at the Palace Lanes doing exactly that. Actually, it was fun... until it became too regular, too scheduled, and then the people I hung out with decided that was too late to stay up and we had to do it earlier. Some things just shouldn't be done until it's late.
dude, it's almost 3am. I told that Kraut a ****in' thousand times, I don't roll on shabbos! He lives in North Hollywood on Radford, near the In-and-Out Burger... The In-and-Out Burger is on Camrose...Those are good burgers, Walter...Shut the **** up, Donny.
Exactly, Isabel. Bowling is amazingly fun in spurts, but when put on a regular schedule, the lasting power of bowling just isn't there. And yeah, bowling should only be done late at night. It's kind of weird trying to bowl with some buddies when they have all the lights and stuff on.
This is a long shot, and a bit off topic, but does anyone remember eating at Eberado's on Nasa 1 in El Lago, right next to The Ship's Wheel? It's long gone now. Special tea after 2am.....
I like going to the Little Napoli on Westheimer between Fountain View and Voss after a long night of drinking. It is a small place, but the food is damn good.
I go to the House of Pies on Westheimer and Briar Ridge when I want some late-night huevos rancheros...
I believe they are open until 3AM on Fridays and Saturdays but people "linger" there much longer then that. I used to frequent there 2-3 times a month after 2AM a few years back. I don't go out as much as I used but I've been there a couple times in the last 3 months or so.
I go out of town this weekend and y'all serve up this drivel? For shame... #1 spot to eat breakfast at 3a.m. is Treasure's. #2 is Mama's Cafe #3 is anything written before these two.
Fatty, are the tacos at Treasures fresh at 3AM? Eating late late night in Houston is like this for me.... 1. Stay the hell away from Katz's in Montrose and Andy's on 11th St. in the Heights. Your stomach will thank you. 2. Spanish Flower on North Main is #1 for me, followed by House of Pies. Dot Coffee Shop on the Gulf Freeway at Woodridge is pretty good at 3AM if you are in the neighborhood. If I'm really desperate, I'll go to Denny's or (heaven forbid) I-Slop.
Mama's is for ****. The only good thing about it is the convenient location & the act that it's a step-up (barely) from Denny's & IHOP. Again, if you want some real blue-collar, made-from-scratch, 3AM food Aunt Bea's is the best. Yeah, it's a drive - don't do it while wasted - but if you are on or near the northside it's the best stop. They have this thing called the "Working Man's Special" that's like 2 eggs, hash browns, toast or biscuit, bacon, sausage or ham, and pancakes for like 5 bucks.
