    "
NEW YORK – Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year finalists Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz and Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans lead the 2017-18 NBA All-Defensive First Team.

Gobert was voted to the NBA All-Defensive First Team for the second year in a row, as selected by a global panel of 100 sportswriters and broadcasters. The 7-1 center from France earned 192 points, including 94 First Team votes. Davis, a two-time NBA All-Defensive Second Team selection, makes his debut on the First Team. The 6-11 forward/center received the second-most points (163) and First Team votes (73), behind Gobert.

The two big men are joined on the NBA All-Defensive First Team by Indiana Pacers guard Victor Oladipo (136 points), Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday (105) and Philadelphia 76ers forward Robert Covington (90). All three players are All-Defensive selections for the first time.

The NBA All-Defensive Second Team consists of 76ers center Joel Embiid (90 points), Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green (86), Boston Celtics forward/center Al Horford (85), San Antonio Spurs guard Dejounte Murray (80) and Minnesota Timberwolves guard/forward Jimmy Butler (79). Like the First Team, the Second Team has three first-time All-Defensive selections: Embiid, Horford and Murray."

I think he should be on the 2nd Team instead of Butler...Butler missed 23 games and his team was ranked 22nd in defensive efficiency

meanwhile, the Rockets catapulted to 6th in defense after being ranked 18th last season...PJ wasn’t the sole reason for that, but he was a big part of it...his ability to guard 3-5 and be a small ball C is so valuable

Paul was also snubbed. Dejounte Murray really? He doesn’t even play starter minutes.

It's hard to find a spot for PJ there.

AD is a star, who has dazzling steal/block numbers; Draymond is the single best defender active; Horford is the best defender in the best defensive team; Covington's defense this year is phenomenal(ranked 3rd in ESPN's DRPM, the third perimeter player ever to rank 3rd or higher).

notice how every selection is a young player or plays on an up-and-coming team full of young players. league marketing. silver always about that paper. no $$ to be made off a 33 yr old journeyman like tucker

who cares, he'll be the only one playing in the finals. i'm sure PJ would rather have that than an all-defensive team selection.

Jimmy Butler on name recognition alone, his defense was very average this season

I hope this pisses off all our defensive players before game 5. Paul and Tucker especially are likely to take this as an insult.

It's an embarrassment. I think the league is so happy with all the scoring that it doesn't want to enforce stuff like that.

According to this, Rubio should be more upset about the snub.
