You are right...I got confused, sorry. Logo changed, but they moved, so besides the point. They have changed dominant colors, though...anyway, continuing... This I don't believe. Are you talking about that fiesta crap? When have the Spurs not had that Spur as a logo? When were they anything other than black and white? The logo had the birght colors that they now have taken away. But they changed back. Green, yellow, and white are Supersonic colors. That wasn't the argument (so I thought) - it was that most teams change uniforms, color, logo...the Sonics did. The Bulls have always been red, black, and white for as long as I can remember. But did they always have a mostly black uniform or pinstripes? Didn't last long, but I thought we were talking about any changes. Same with the Pistons. I guess I was just going off of Jeff's comment that most teams change something over the years, whereas you were saying that those listed either have only made minimal changes or made mistakes and went back to things closer to their tradition. Anyway, I agree that colors should not be changed (I think logos should be tweaked, but not completely changed)...which is why those Cavs unis suck, I was just confused as to your argument, I guess.
Six proposals right? Why not be really original and use all of them. They could pull in some serious cash when you factor in those home/away variants: "New Rockets jerseys! Collect all Twelve!!!" And that's just for each player marketable enough to sell jersey copies of. No? Ah well...
True. There's something about the red and yellow that just doesn't look right. I don't mind the red/white combo, though.
The new Cavs unis have been unveiled. They look pretty sharp. As you can see they took our old colors, sort of. More of a wine and metallic gold. But Im sure this is one of the reasons we didtn go back to the red and gold. If our new unis look anything like theirs I'll be happy.
The Rockets have a pretty great history, particularly since 1980. Championships Lakers 8 Bulls 6 Celtics 3 Rockets 2 Pistons 2 Finals Appearances Lakers 12 Bulls 6 Celtics 5 Rockets 4 Sixers 3 Pistons 3 We already established tradition and history. You don't re-invent one of the better franchises in the league with pin stripes, Rocket teeth, and color forcasters. People buy your uniforms when you win and they stop when you lose. You don't need marketing teams to figure that one out.
man... i dont know why all you fools are spazzing out.. the rockets have plenty of ideas, so if this one supposegly got rejected, they can easlily throw the next one at them.. not very diffcitult people.. i promise we will have a nice jersey for next year, we all need to take a back seat and just chill...
Has it been mentioned in response to those well-intentioned fans who want the red-yellow schema back that, in the context of having a player from Red China on the team, that those are the same colors that flew on the tanks that slaughtered over a thousand freedom protesters at Tienamen Square? And any ill-conceived concession to world appeal which leaves off the name of the city is a sellout of the only fans that matter. Keep it simple, keep it local, and keep it minimal- that should govern every uniform decision. What matters is the product on the court.
The original Raptors uniforms had that huge dinosaur on the front. The word RAPTORS was squeezed in above the logo, almost up to the top of the neck, and it always looked like an afterthought to me. Maybe that is what the Rockets are running into, the NBA demanding a city or team name on the front.
I bet the new uniforms are like, all black, with a huge skull on the chest! Dripping blood out of the eyes! And an ornamental sword! Man that'd be so sweet, dude.
Some FYI. This site shows all the logos that every team has ever used. http://www.dpmonline.com/cc/basketball/nba/teamindex.html
Red, white, and blue were the colors of the Confederacy, yet when Olympic athletes dress in red, white, and blue, I doubt they think they're playing for the idea that blacks are property.
Probably the NBA passed that "rule" after the Lakers had their uniforms without the "Los Angeles" scripture for road games. Their semi-new uniforms aren't a complete redesign, they're only slightly different from past seasons, including the colors. In contrast, the ROX may be asking for a complete change, including colors and design... Check out the Schmakers' old jerseys as compared with the "new" modified look: vs. By the way... the LAKERS' SUCK in MY BOOK no matter what uniform they wear, the ROX RULE no matter what pijam... I mean, UNIFORM they wear
Awesome site! Interesting point. You know what's funny? When I was a kid and Dream was doing those McDonald's commercials, I thought McD's picked their colors to match the Rockets, which I thought was cool because I thought McDonalds was cool. Anyway, I'm glad to see that red is apparently returning as the dominant color. I will forever miss the Red & Gold, and I will forever think of them as our colors. Once I get around to buying the Rockets, the Red & Gold will return.
look on the bright side: Can there be a worse logo than our first one? <img src="http://www.dpmonline.com/cc/images/nba/hou/logo-1971primary.gif">
maybe this was already brought up on this forum, but Doc is giving us a MAJOR clue about the logo. Supermans logo. With the shape with the LETTER in the middle. probably just the letter "R" in front of the chest like supermans suit. Just no blue color.Red and silver shiny, with reverse color schemes for roadies. someone needs to do photo shop of a red metallic uni with superman silver logo with a silver "R' in the middle with no "houston" name or "rockets" name
