Ah, but an extremely similar design to the old duds wouldn't be out of the question, looks at Seattle and San Antonio's "new" jerseys.

Maybe the league rejected it because we didn't have anything on the jersey at all except for the number. Wouldn't that be awesome if we only had the players number on the front? Something plain and simple.

Exactly. I think our old uniforms look good for two reasons:

    1. We won our first championships in them.
    2. Anything looks better when compared to the current uniforms.

The "mustard yellow" on the old unies made the uniform look Fugly as hell.

I don't even get why there is a deadline. Stern just tries to control everything.

The organization is trying to do something that no other team is doing and that's why the league has not 'YET' aproved it. A new uniform will be approved but his one is a little bold as far as 'rules' are concerned.

    It's cutting edge not ugly. It's innovative...it's a bird....it's a plane... it's.......SUPER!!

It'll be fine to most 'Houstonians!'

What can be cutting edge for a basketball uniform? It's a jersey and shorts with colors and logos. What's the problem?

Wait, they're not thinking of going to some spandex one-piece track suit or maybe a cut-off coverall with matching t-shirt look are they? (Normally I would put one of those little smiley faces here, but given what the curent uniforms look like, I'll hold out for awile.)

I just want it to look a lot like the real Rocket uniforms. I'm still sick from watching Hakeem play in those pajama pieces of crap and I haven't bought one bit of Rockets gear since the switch.

so it's bending the rules, it's not ugly, and it's SUPER. and since you emphasized houstonians and we have lots of strip clubs (or so i hear) the uniforms must have a hot naked chick on them. sweet. go rockets. approve those unis sterny boy!

I always assume uniforms are going to look like:

    houston
    REEBOK
    rockets

Maybe I'm too cynical. Yao and Cato in spandex unitards would be hilarious!

Maybe they're going for the dry-fit soccer look?

I have class in 2 minutes, so I can't find them, but look for socer jerseys that these teams wear:

Italian national team, Cameroon National Team, AS Roma of the Italian Soccer leage (Serie A)....

They're tight, and the Cameroon one is sleeveless as well...

man, 2 people posting the exact same thing at freakin 2:55 am. what are the odds.

ok, so since it has to do with superman, it's blue. perhaps it has body armor in it to stop speeding bullets. or rocket boosters to get glen rice's lard ass off the ground. maybe it's lois lane naked? teri hatcher naked, they're real and they're spectacular. hmmmm. but it's cutting edge, like a knife, like plastic surgery. so maybe they're just spectacular. i'm going with the naked chick theory until i hear otherwise. it'll make the offseason better.

    Thanks, Carol.;)

I think it could be like the Nuggets old unis with the skyline of Houston on it.(There's had the skyline of Denver) Maybe it just had the skyline of Houston in sliver, the jersey was red, and there was a blue rocket flying above the skyline...

Totally agree...I have often thought, when others on here ware raving about shots of our guys in old uniforsm; " Well...they're certainly better than what we've got now, and they bring back memories...but they're anything but amazing."

Maybe they should take out the Chinese characters that spell out, "Drink Yanjing". Then they could have enough room to put "Houston".

THANK YOU! NO Mustard/yellow and red Mcdonalds jerseys thank you very much! I respect what the Rockets occomlished in those uniforms and defintely have fond memories of their championships but that does not make me excited to see those uniforms on the players today. (Although retro-night was pretty cool)

Red is fine, especially if it is a deeper red...but no yellow please!

Doc, thanks for the info. Have you actually seen the design by saying it is "cutting edge and not ugly"? Or is that info you got from a "trusted source" who you know has good taste. ;)

Your post really has made me wonder what exactly the Rockets are designing. I wonder what "uniform rules" the Rockets are "bending" with this design.

Does anyone know once the design is "approved" when that design will be announced to the public? Will it be on NBA Draft Night?

One more thing I forgot to mention. A month or so ago there was a short Rockets article stating that the Rockets players had seem some designs and liked what they saw. They currently HATE the Rockets unis now so I have to believe that if the Rockets players like what is being made right now they can't be ugly.

    Except for the players....and fans...

But you're probably talking about Rocket execs who only care about lining their pockets with merchandise sales. I can buy that.

It's almost as if you completely overlooked some of the responses int his thread confirming that some fans, did, indeed find nothign special about the mustard yellow, myself included.

As for Doc's comments, they make me worried, not excited. It shouldn't be that complicated.
