Of course, you could also say that after a poor conference start, A&M finished the season 9-2. And you could say that the only two losses were by 4 points to Texas (Elite 8 team) and 1 point to LSU (final four team). And everyone is coming back.
Sarcasm? James to Texas You can use bugmenot, or here's the text... Coach: Nacogdoches hoops star headed to UT 12:58 PM CDT on Monday, May 22, 2006 By KATE HAIROPOULOS / The Dallas Morning News Nacogdoches' Damion James, the nation's top uncommitted basketball recruit in the Class of 2006, committed to Texas this morning, according to Nacogdoches coach Mark Richardson. James, a 6-8 forward ranked No. 17 in the Class of 2006 by Rivals.com, picked Texas over Texas A&M. James narrowed his choice to the two schools after Oklahoma released him from his letter of intent after coach Kelvin Sampson left for Indiana. James will not sign a letter of intent because the NCAA late signing period ended May 17, but Richardson said James was in the process of getting scholarship papers from Texas. Richardson said in the end, James' life long dream of playing for Texas helped the sought-after recruit make his decision. Texas' recruiting class already ranked in the top-five nationally before landing James. With James on board, this has turned into Barnes' best recruiting offseason IMO. This is definitely great news for the Horns fans since losing Aldridge, Tucker, Mike Williams, Buckman, Paulino, and possibly Gibson would be absolutely devastating. Picking up 2-5 star prospects and the #5 PG in the country is HUGE.
I won't rub the salt in over James selecting UT-Austin over A&M. I was raised to never make fun of the handicapped. This is just not your century IC2000.
IC, even Billy Luicci said this was no where near a done deal, even though it seemed like he was leaning towards A&M. Where did you hear it was a "lock"?!
whatever you want to say man, I did not say I had an inside source for this or the reggie bush information. I have never been wrong about the rockets. The james info came from rivals. They said james was a lock to a&M. They were wrong, it happens. Make fun all you want, it is pretty pathetic to mock someone over the internet about a source or what not.
gr8-1... that is what I figured. Texas has been able to get talent in recent years that is for sure. Hopefully they will break through and win a champ in the near future. They are contenders on a regular basis it seems. I'm not a UT fan, but it would be nice to have a Texas team win the championship.
dude the smiley face was there for a reason....it was a joke. i go to rivals a lot and check their stuff out and they do a really good job, but recruiting is so tricky that i would never call anything a lock because kids can change their mind with the snap of the fingers. and it happens all the time.
it was directed to everyone who was making fun of the fact that I was wrong. anyways its a tough loss for A&M but we still got some other great players returning and great new freshmen
a&m did have a terrific class, i wouldn't surprised to see them contend for the Big 12 Champ. next year alongside Kansas and Texas.
I think what swayed james to come to Texas was because RBarnes kept saying that TEXAS will be implementing parts of the Suns offense next year. Durant also made calls to James telling him to play with him at UT. With a young team and versatile forwards like James and Durant, Texas could be a very interesting and fun team to watch next year; much like UNC last year. I personally don't see a big drop off from our success last year. HOOK EM
