i think because the movie got a bit "preachy" at the end. a know a lot of friends enjoyed the movie but didnt like that aspect of it. they watch movies to be entertained and felt they were watching an infomercial at the end. it didnt bother me as much but i can understand how it was a turnoff. oh but the rabbit and the magician short before Wall-e was freaking awesome you have to see that.
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=150433&page=1&pp=20 That's the thread I made about it before it came out. Skimming the responses I'd say it's about... 60% "incredible" 25% "good but not great (overhyped)" 15% "not impressed" Very rarely would anyone make a comment that would lead me to believe that they hated it. Maybe your friends just hate robots
preachy..? there was nothing "preachy" about it.. Happy feet is preachy.. Wall-e however, not at all.. The only 'blatant-righteous-message-in-the-guise-of-entertainment' that I received from Wall-e was a very simple non-postulating non-preachy but, very innocent one... and that is that we should appreciate eachother and the fact we live where we live.. a little more.. nothing more.. if your friends made a more out of that.. I suspect they're the stubbornly intellectual/cynical types..
I'll watch anything made by Pixar. Nothing will ever top the original Toy Story though. They are all good films.
Similar "Dennis the Menace" feel from the preview. We'll see. And with that, off to create a spin-off thread.
I did too, but I love cars. Perhaps my hatred of rodents was why I didn't like the rat movie. (I'm tired of spelling that damn thing out.)
I haven't seen that. But I'm sure I'll like it just by looking at the previews. And I am of the few out there that LOVED Wall-E. I hear people complain because of the lack of dialogue, which didn't bother me. I think I'll make it my mission to buy every Pixar movie on DVD. Some of the best movies I saw as a kid.
It was OK but it definitely wasn't up to the level of previous Pixar movies. Comparing it to other recent ones, I can't see how anyone could compare it to The Incredibles or Finding Nemo. The Rat movie really sank my opinion of Pixar. When I watch Wall-E on DVD, hopefully it goes the other direction.
