Another week, another season ending injury. Sucks for Pitts. He's a good guy and a great representative of the organization. With all due respect to him, I don't think Studdard is a downgrade at all. Maybe even an upgrade. Nothing personal, Chester.
Damn, microfracture surgery was the same that ended Spencer's career. At least Pitts made some decent money over his career since he's likely done as an NFL player.
Everyone I've heard that speaks of Caldwell says that he's not ready to play yet. Eric Winston was on 610 the other day saying that Caldwell still needs to grow up a lot as a player. He spoke of him showing flashes of being a good player, but he has too many lapses where he doesn't show up at all. He also commented on the speed of the game just being a little too much for him at this point. Middle to late round lineman don't usually come in and make an immediate impact. I think he will be a good player it's just going to be at least next year before he matures enough to get some time on the field.
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/6634709.html Looks like we got saftey Bernard Pollard out of KC to replace him. Hope this guy is any good. Aside from ending Tom Brady's season, he started 16 games for a mediocre Chief's team. Any help to stop the running game would be nice.
From Wexler's Twitter... awexler Just talked w/ @MovetheSticks..."Pollard outstanding on Sp Teams & he's a big hitter" RT @ChronicleTexans: Texans sign S Bernard Pollard I also read somewhere that he is not that great of a tackler and he gambles alot.
was the microfracture a supplemental procedure that they felt he needed after they diagnosed his primary injury? Just seems odd. Usually microfracture surgery comes after an extended amount of knee problems/pain.
Yeah, thats what I was thinking. Im guessing they went in there, saw the damage to the cartilage, and decided to do the microfracture surgery right there. I dont think it was something they were necessarily expecting. However, if he hadnt had an extended amount of pain on that knee, I would think that the loss of cartilage was probably minimal. Therefore, my guess is that it will not be anywhere near career threatening.
I imagine they found additional damage or Chester had been planning to have this surgery at some point whenever it was convenient. Either way it makes sense, you're going to be down for a long time, might as well go ahead and have additional procedures while you're at it.
