If they sell an extra 17,000 copies of the game because of this marketing, they have made up more than the 1,000,000 they are giving away. Great idea by 2K
That would only be if 2K incurred no expenses in manufacturing & delivering the game and the retailer was not selling for a profit. So 2K would probably have to sell more than 17,000 additional games to make that prize money up. Still, I agree it seems like great marketing for 2k especially if no one can get that no hitter.
Didn't take very long. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100505/ap_on_hi_te/us_tec_video_game_baseball_perfection
The Show has been an incredible game since that series started a few years ago.. still has the upper hand according to reviews (haven't played both this year), though the gap seems to have closed a lot
Cool, I owned the one that had David Wright on the cover not sure which one it was, it was aiight. Haven't played whichever is the opposite of that one and haven't bought any since.
That was "The Show", and that was the very first time they made it, I believe. It has definitely improved since then (as you'd expect), but the general concept is the same
I have an Xbox 360. Thanks to the fact that 2K makes suck ass baseball games I bought a PS3 with one purpose, The Show
I wonder how they verify he did it legit. I'd do something like edit the other teams ratings as low as possible and max out my pitcher's ratings.
I played the 2K10 Demo and pitched 3 perfect innings with Sabathia.. I know it's not 9 innings, but it didn't seem IMPOSSIBLE. I don't even play baseball games and never owned one. Think about it.. If you play with the Yankees.. a workhorse with Sabathia and use only your starting pitchers. And you play against the WORST hitting team in the league, I think you can do it. Especially if you were always good at baseball games. The only way its not possible is if 2Ksports actually made it impossible through the programming. But that would be false advertisiement.. Another thing about the 1 million dollars. In the fine print it says you will get 50K equal installments (not adjusted for inflation) for the next 20 years. After tax that's less 35K.. In 20 years, that money would probably be worth about 10K right now.. Which still isn't bad. but its not what you think of when you say a MILLION DOLLARS!
Good thing they didn't make it only for the Wii console. That would be damn near impossible. and tiring.
I have the latest "The Show" and it is seriously the most realistic baseball game you will ever play. They did extensive scouting on this one and has everyone's manuerisms, stances, pitching mechanics, fielding mechanics, fielder's throwing mechanics, etc.. down to a T. Its unreal
Yep, it's great. My only complaint is that in franchise mode the computer goes a little crazy with trades even though I understand the logic behind them. But you can control that pretty easily.
I haven't purchased a baseball game since the MVP baseball series on the original Xbox. What are the options for the 360? And do any of them have anywhere close to the season/franchise management tools that MVP baseball had, particularly the ability to "manage" a game rather than straight up playing or simming a season game? For those unfamiliar, you could basically go through a game by selecting options for each batter as they come up to "swing away", "hit and run", "bunt" ... etc. And the same for pitching, you could pitch around or challenge hitters. All on one screen without actually playing the games.
The Show is made by Sony so your only option on XBox is MLB 2k10. I've never played any of the 2k games, but The Show's franchise mode is pretty deep with arbitration, Rule V draft, free agency, player options, etc.
That would be awesome! I once got a pentuple double with Ben Wallace playing against my brother in 2k5. If only they could retroactively give me cash for that one.
