They probably have a buyout deal in place that will get them just below the Tax line.

    Le$ gotta get paid.

Yep, protecting the Rockets from the stupid trade, let DMo heal and sign him to a cheaper contract.

Sean Elliot's trade was rescinded, but he went on to play several more years and won a championship with San Antonio - who took the risk of his kidneys...even though the Rockets would not.

Interesting response.... when you are wrong, and others point it out, you call it trolling.

At least you're cementing your idiocy across all the platforms of this BBS.... you're an equal-opportunity dumbass.

Once you're done with your childish response, care to actually respond to any of my statements? Do you agree that just because a player passes a physical, it doesn't provide any sort of guarantee for long-term health.

Detroit said as much when they made the trade... it was a high-risk/high-reward deal (the risk being his back issues, the reward being the chance that the back doesn't prevent him from becoming better... in the end, they were willing to gamble, but its still a gamble even if the physical is passed).

Every other post on here is from BTG. As long as he is allowed to post here, a lot of posts are going to be reactions to those posts.

DMo fans still having trouble coping, even when it's obvious his back is in bad shape

It may not be the shape, but the risk of re-occurrence, because the Pistons probably traded because they liked him and planned to sign him long term, now they are worried that it might be an ongoing problem - and may want to back out.

Doesn't mean it WILL be an ongoing problem - but they don't want to take the risk.

I've seen very little commentary on the note "Rockets must approve"

Was this retracted somewhere? Just say "Too bad." D-mo has been on the injured list all year long....

Rockets and Philly have already approved. If you say "too bad" Pistons will say also "too bad" and take their pick back.

Which is weird because SVG already said he knew about it

Sounds like the Detroit doctors found something worse than expected

Its actually a better question to ask when will it NOT be a problem... because its still obviously an ongoing problem currently.

Even if the trade is voided, DMo needs to get fully healthy, start playing extended minutes, become a vital rotation player again, AND not get re-injured over the last 26 games in order for the Rockets to even consider re-signing him.

And this was true prior to the trade... which is why the trade could be defended even without going further into the conspiracy that the Rockets somehow knew his back was further damaged and tried to pull a fast one.

As gambles... if DMo doesn't come back this year, that would be almost a year and a half where he's been out/injured/ineffective.

Players have come back from achilles tears faster than that, and that's as death-sentence injury as they come.

Yep. He needs to play Day 1 here if the trade is voided. Our "doctors" did clear him afterall.

Elliott was a much better player than DMo was at the time of his failed physical.

His kidney issue was able to be managed medically till the transplant... and wasn't one that directly impacted him on the court as much as a bad back would.

So, moral of the story... if you're an NBA player, better to be in kidney failure requiring a transplant, than it is to have back surgery.

Eh, he was pretty bad the first time he was cleared too.... its going to take a few weeks worth of games for him to get close to being in proper game shape/rhythm (presuming no further setbacks), and that's also accounting for his likely unavailability in back to backs (which I'm pretty sure Detroit was anticipating as well).

This. No way Morey gives this big money when healthy players will be available.

He was decent. 40% of DMo is better than what we've seen from Tjones and Smooth. We know Dmo can hit that 3.

yup. Why not? Or he can take his qo. If Morey renounces him, then I am certain he can find a 1+1 t.o contract. Teams like Indiana will be dying to add him,not to mention SVG himself (is that even legal if the trade is voided?).

    Derrick freaking Williams got 1+1 T.O .
