Detroit is not interested in Mo Taylor at all and never really has been. Taylor plays the Detroit card when he needs to get some leverage with other teams as it's his home (U of Michigan guy) team and teams might consider it a threat to take him.

Detroit is extremely happy with Ben Wallace and want to play him at PF. They would have kept him at C if Webber came, but Taylor ain't no Webber. Instead they went out and signed a couple Euro centers they are very high on (Zeljiko Rebraca being the one likely to start) and will slide Wallace to PF. In addition to that, they've now got about 6 guys who can play PF competently (Ben Wallace, Cliff Robinson, Corliss Williamson, Mikki Moore, Brian Cardinal and they just signed Victor Alexander).

Now they're working on upgrading the point position.

The irony is that most people who think like this (not necessarily you) are the same people who are going to clamor over Hakeem's departure if he leaves.

First its..."listen, dont blame Hakeem for taking weeks longer than everyone else in the league to decide where he wants to play, thus counting $24 million against the Rockets cap, effectively tying management's hand on any other deal. If the Rockets want to they could just renounce Hakeem and sign all their other important free agents"

Then, a few days later when Hakeem is reounced and its..."No! How can you let go the greatest player this city has ever seen. Rocket's management has no idea what they are doing. This is a horrible move"

fact of the matter is, it is Hakeem's fault. But if you want to play the blame game and say, well, management could just renounce him, then its really the fans fault (or fans who think Hakeem is god, cause management knows these people exist in large numbers and there will be backlash whenever something bad is said about/done too Hakeem).

American business long ago gave up on demanding that prospective employees be honest and hardworking. It has even stopped hoping for employees who are educated enough that they can tell the difference between the men's room and the women's room without having little pictures on the doors.

I agree Hobbs...Ben Wallace had a breakout year last year and with the signing of Corliss, the last thing they need is another middle of the road PF

If Cuban owned the Rockets instead of the Mavs, CD would already have found the money to sign Dream and any of our FA's that RT wanted. Does anyone really believe they can't offer more to Dream and still sign our FA's? I believe it is more won't, or don't want to, than can't. They could sign Dream for 7mil and still be under the cap when they sign Mo. How much money do we need for Shandon? We have some bird rights on him and the rest. They estimate the luxury tax won't kick in until about 54mil, if then. What's the fuss? Dream isn' looking for a raise. I think he is worth more than the 4.5mil on the table, more than Cato gets.

When CD says they can't, are they unable to or not allowed? IMHO, if Les had been the one to make a bid to the NFL, we wouldn't have a home team for next year. Step up Les. Do the right thing. Without Dream, would you be getting that new Arena?

You can't sign him to 7m and then give Mo a good deal under the cap. Sorry, that's not possible.

I'd love to sign n trade Shandon, but he said earlier this summer that Bird Rights wouldn't do.

I'm not willing to take on that much salary unless it's two players with short contracts.

We're stocked up everywhere excet for C.

This is how I see it:

If Shandon leaves, Dream comes back and we're fully stocked EVERYWHERE so we let him walk, and we have just enough cap space.

If Dream doesn't come back, I'd like to see us Sign n trade Shandon for a C, so we'll have some extra cap space to make even a tiny splash in next year's FA class.

Shandon really isn't integral to this team anymore. Steve, Mo, and Cat are gonna put a HUGE effort into D next year, and Griffin is a fairly good defender already. Griffin can do what Shandon can do and more.

The only way I'd like to see us keep Shandon is if we renounce Bull(for Hakeem's contract) and Trade Walt for a 3-point specialist(3M per year?) and a trade excpetion or draft picks.

    Think about this:

    Walt
    Bull
    Shandon
    Griffin
    Langhi

Langhi needs some time, and Griffin needs some time. I'd like to see EITHER Walt or Bull kept for a touch of experience. Like I said, Shandon is too expensive to come off the bench, and I don't think any Sign and trade for the kinda money HE wants will work.

    Sane,

I was thinking the S&T might be a SA and Cato pkg to CHI for Miller and _____. CHI is under the cap and might try Cato, plus SA gives them a good defensive player to back-up Mercer.

I know, I'm dreaming and we won't be able to get rid of Cato's contract, but its late and I'm trying to use positive suggestion to ship him out of HOU.

JayZ750, whats worse, a public relations backlash for a little while before Dream could be signed while we sign our free agents, or losing MoT because of fear of a public relations backlash??

If we sign Dream for 7mil, doesn't that leave 11mil to split between Mo and SA? I think 6 for Mo is plenty. Is SA worth 5mil? We can go over the cap to sign players with bird rights. Does anyone think SA is worth more to the team than Dream?
