again, yao spoke to adelman after his struggles earlier on wanting to be primarily in the low post. yao admitted to struggling at the high post. therefore, i don't think you will see him at the high post for more than 10% of the game (like 4-5 possessions).

in the utah series, not only did you see tmac there, but also scola. i foresee scola being a very big part of the offense next yr, either as a passer or scorer. he's too talented to be wasted as a hustle man.

the thing at the high post is if you cannot get any other options, you can put the ball on the floor and drive. yao cannot do that. scola and tmac can obviously.

besides the point, weren't you the only one earlier this season wanting to trade adelman b/c he put yao in the high post since you only want him there exclusively in the low post?

Uh, if you actually read my posts you'd know that I'm the biggest Adelman fan on this board.

As for Yao, he admitted to being uncomfortable in the high post. Then again he was uncomfortable when van Gundy turned him into a back to the basket low post player. I don't think anyone knows what Adelman's plans are though.

Gosh, again, we have decent FG%. I don't care how you are describing erratic, point is we have decent three point shooter. Whatever else u are saying are friggin lame excuses.

Nope, you and Badgerfan need to get it in your head that TMac does go to the basket a lot, doesn't always take it to rim and make contact to draw the fouls - hence he is called soft like Yao. How the heck do you guys think he averages that many assists for a SG?? coz he passes to people without drawing double teams?? Sigh ridiculous

See above and stop making stupid excuses

Yea he likes to camp there, thats how he gets his 6-7 assists from..... His shooting % is poor maybe because unlike other SG/SF, he actually has to create and distribute the ball.

The guy is not commited plain and simple. And if not for Scola who is very good offensive player himself, we were never able to take advantage of the double team on Yao mainly because the guy is not commited and it is easy to rotate back to the open guy.

What exactly does "creating and distributing" have to do with a poor fg%?

I think he means that with Yao out, he has to play 2 roles. He has to be the #1 distributer and the #1 scorer on the team. We all know when he does too much he is brittle, hence the nagging injuries.

I don't know if you've ever played on a cortison or w.e shot but i heard it is extremely painful, and that knee he played on after he had the nasty fluid drained :(

It's not his role, he is taking additional responsibilities. Even Kobe and Lebron does not handle PG duties as much as TMac does with our team. If you had to ask why, forget it. I am not going to keep arguing with the two of you who obviously started following BBall diligently only after Yao was drafted.

It's pretty evident when you guys can't stop comparing FG% of centers with that of a SG, don't understand the concept of boxing out and thinks motion offense is perfect for a player like Yao.

    Sook, Rockza:

Creating/distributing plus scoring is some kind of huge burden? Isn't that what PG's are asked to do night in and night out? Somehow what Nash, Williams, Paul, etc. do every night is too much work for McGrady and that's what's responsible for his poor fg%?

nash has amare and shaq, paul has d. west and peja.

T-MAC isn't a PG btw, he's a SG his job is to come off curls and curls or slash to the basket. He hasn't been able to play his role, thats why he's in a mix right now, comn your better than that badger.

I'm still confused. How does having to distribute the ball somehow lead to T-Mac's low fg%?

Gosh, they are built to play PGs, they played ALL their life as a PG. Sigh. Apparently I will have to use an extreme example for it to make sense, ok it's like asking Yao to take up some of the responsibilities of a PG and stil expect his overall game to be unaffected. Got it now?

So you're actually arguing that being forced to pass the ball is breaking T-Mac down and that's leading to his crappy fg %? Give me a break. Watching you guys twist yourselves into knots trying to come up excuses for the guy is pretty incredible. I don't know about the details of your feud with Wekko but you're obviously no paragon of basketball IQ either if you can spout this garbage with a straight face.

Kind of like how you expect Yao to be able to outrun Boozer when chasing down loose balls?

Why is it THAT hard for you to understand? What do you mean forced to pass? He's always been a team player and coaches talk about his passing first. The fact is that his role can't be expanded that far, there is a limit. Have you ever seen T-MAC on the high post? He could hit 50% of his shots all day. But with him over there constantly who is going to create for teammates like Scola who feed off of him constantly? Mcgrady knows what's good for the team, it's unappreciative little fans like you who will never be satisfied.

You look at basketball purely on stats, "Wait Mcgrady didn't put up 50 tonight, how can he possibly be so important to our team then?" "He didn't get out of the first round, how is he a good player?"
The things he carries on on the court are at a much higher level of understanding that few, such as analysts/coaches/Gms seem to understand. That is why you see them echoing the same crap I am.

Twisting myself into knots for T-MAC? I'm all for trading him, sorry I'm not r****ded, there's a right price for a player. Its funny because go back and look at how you justified Yao's crappy performance last year and compare his FG% to T-MAC's. At one point you or wecko said one of the stupidest things i have ever heard, that the rebounds don't come to Yao, they were behind him..etc. The mountain didn't come to Mohammed, Mohammed (idk if i spelled it right) went to the mountain. Don't tell us we're blindly supporting someone when your swimming in it.

What do you mean? Its not a matter of outrunning, its about boxing out! What don't you understand about that? Yes boozer can outrun him but how many of those rebounds were there? I clearly remember boozer just wanting it more grabbing it over Yao.

It's ok because he says we know nothing about basketball, i mean its not like boxing out is a fundamental key to rebounding right?

i don't think it does. tmac has the ability and skill to handle all of those things. he's done that basically his whole career.

again, his bad fg% stems from his injuries during the season that mess up his rhythm. he's a rhythm player. but the good thing is, tmac will always impacts a game regardless if he shoots 35%. you can't say that for any player outside of lebron or kobe and possibly chris paul or wade.

Dude, you're getting me confused with somebody else. If you actually read any of my posts you'd know that I wrote that Yao had a mediocre series last year. My beef with McGrady has nothing to do building up Yao. You're like a hardcore Democrat or Republican. When I criticize somebody like Obama Democrats immediately assume I'm a Republican. When I criticize McCain Republicans immediately jump to the conclusion that I'm a Democrat. Guess what? I'm neither. They're so closed minded though that they think the only way that somebody could have a problem with their poster boy is because he's campaigning for the other side. That's the very definition of being closed minded and that fits you guys to a tee.

I don't even really have a beef with McGrady--what I find incredible is that while 90% of this board thinks that he settles for jumpers way too often you and the rest of the fan club are blinded by your loyalty and are completely unwilling to accept any criticism of the guy, no matter how valid. And obnoxiously you go to every single thread on this board and whine any time anybody has anything even remotely negative to say about T-Mac. And you twist yourselves into pretzels trying to come up with excuses for the guy. His fg% sucks because he's breaking down or tired from trying to distribute/create? Come on, that sounds totally ridiculous.
