Yes it would matter because none of those guys (except Max) has the bulk to play center either. Max technically has the bulk but he's also 6'6. It just wouldn't work out for more than very spot minutes.

Detroit is not a real trendy team either. Small ball would not sit well there with the fan base or with Dumars.

I don't want to monopolize this with a post every other time, so I'll let it leave it be for a while. I just want to stress that people often don't realize how good Detroit's players are because they aren't about stats. It is about wins and only wins. If Houston gets Billups and Sheed they will be in great position to win a title (not just advance out of the first round). They'll compliment Yao as well as any pg and pf in the league could. I don't know if it's a good trade for Detroit. Something needs to be changed, but I just don't know that McGrady has it in him anymore to be a franchise player.

Seriously man...since when are Harpring and Kirilenko considered offensive threats?

Yes. If you compare Pierce's mediocre games, they're still more efficient than Tmac's mediocre games. Look at the percentages.

First of all, due to his teammates, Pierce doesnt always have to put up superstar numbers. I've already said this. Next, you're selectively choosing Pierce's worst games to prove your point. Also, do you really want to bring up Tmac's career in the playoffs? Its pretty paltry compared to Pierce's.

The tmac of today is nowhere near the tmac of 2004-2005. Don't gauge a player's current abilities by what he did in the past. Or do you still think that Shaq is the most dominant force in the NBA?

Actually, you said that since the rockets were a top defensive team, that meant that Tmac was a good defender. I brought up Luther to prove you wrong (since Luther had a lot of minutes under JVG). If anything is stupid, its your original assertion.

Are you serious? Shoot first point guard? Can you tell me any point guard quality that Luther has? MAYBE shooting. Not passing. Not dribbling. Not court vision.

And I'd probably still take Pierce over T-Mac. T-Mac is the better passer but Pierce converts at a higher rate, he's perfectly capable of picking up the scoring slack when his All-Star teammates falter and he's willing to put the team first. Not to mention he can still take it to the basket with authority.

Definitely. Head is an undersized SG. He should not be asked to run the offense, ever.

Head is a Turn Over Machine!

He shouldn't have the ball in his hands unless he's takin a shot, IMO.

Luther Head was drafted as a PG and played so his first 2 yrs. He knows what he's talking about so maybe you should look things up before calling him out like that. ;)

If you think Luther Head is a serviceable point guard, I really don't know what to tell you.

the position that he's put in -> he plays PG a lot (before bobby came here when brooks wasn't in the rotation). he plays the same role as house when he's on the court.

just b/c you play PG doesn't mean you can pass or have court vision (look at bobby jackson). my god, stop looking at positions and how they play.

of course you would. like i told you many times, he had 2 games in the playoffs where he was A ZERO FACTOR (4 pts and 6 pts) and you defended him b/c he played with "other stars". tmac had 22, 10, 9 in the playoffs and you and wekko both criticized him to death.

    so of course you would

Bobby Jackson is very capable of throwing an entry pass. He's also a decent ball-handler and shooter. These attributes alone make him a serviceable backup. These are also attributes that Luther lacks (except for the shooting).

If your a pg for a team and you cant handle the ball or pass, your team is going to lose (assuming you actually play instead of sitting on the bench).

are you serious? who handles the ball most of hte time when bobby is in the game? that's why tmac nearly avg 8 assists before rafer in the playoffs.

when he was on the floor, bobby SHOT A LOT (70 fg attempts and made 20).

if he wasn't a veteran, bobby would not have seen much time b/c he sucked like luther.

Exactly...thats why he's been playing backup for tracy mcgrady. You think t-mac can share the load with a guy like that?

You're misunderstanding things again. True, Pierce had some bad games. But they're effect is somewhat neutralized b/c he plays with other stars who can compensate for his bad game. He has star teammates that he can defer to.

On the other hand, Tmac does not have this luxury yet he continally tried to defer. Thats why he's criticized. Do you understand?

Tmac handles the ball b/c without it, he's completely useless on the offensive end. Thats why when Yao gets the ball, Tmac stands around and doesnt really do anything.

Bobby probably got his minutes b/c Adelman knows what he's capable of.

The year he had 22, 10 , 9 is the the first time we played the jazz, of course he should have had someone to defer to ...yao?

no, those bad games led them to LOSSES. he is their best scorer and when your other 2 stars struggle, he should step up and take over. ray and KG are not the 1-on-1 player that paul is. if they won, i wouldn't care. but i mentioned those 2 games b/c those were losses.

like i said, tmac shot 24 times in the playoffs, put up 7 assists -> how is that deferring? he took the last shot in game 3 and bricked it bad (he wasn't looking to pass at all). he took every shot to basically end the game in the last 3 minutes of game 4. when you lose, you think of that as deferring. but i don't see a guy putting up 24 shots as "deferring." that's taking it to another level with yao out. tmac wasn't criticized by the media b/c they understand.

last yr was the only year you can really criticize tmac b/c he did shoot poorly (39%). but you can't really this year, esp. with 2 starters out for the most part, and him playing injured along with battier. you call a guy and team like that playing with a lot of heart.

lol first a defensive liability, now completely useless off the ball.

go tell that to JVG who said tmac is as good as anyone off the ball around screens. go to youtube and search the hornets game in 06-07 when rafer played point and tmac scored like 10 straight pts in the 4th off screens/curls ala rip hamilton.

the reason he needs the ball is we have ZERO playmakers. rafer is good for stretches and tmac does want rafer to handle the ball (see games 3/4) b/c tmac PREFERS to play off the ball (which is what he said in the post game show).

when yao has the ball, we want him to have as much space as possible b/c it's called AN ISOLATION play. yao is very ineffective if you bring to many people near him b/c -> turnovers. any normal rocket fan who watches enough games would know this.
