...so your saying it didn't frustrate you time after time when we played better coached teams who would kill us at something and Rudy would play the hands off routine and let it happen rather than make an in-game adjustment? Look - I really liked Rudy as a person and as a coach he had his merits as being a player friendly coach who gave his players lots of leeway. That strategy made him a good fit for the Rockets with the roster they had assembled in the mid 90s but like I said - the Xs and Os were not something he excelled at and it was obvious when he played better coaches and they would make in game switches that Rudy was simply unable to match. I might not find many like minds here in the land where Rudy is a legend, but I'm sure most hardcore non Rocket NBA fans would agree with me on that one.
Pistons may be a clusterf*** of a team but they can be exciting at times with rising Austin Daye and Greg Monroe, Ben Gordon when he is hot, and of course the resurgence of T-Mac. They have some decent storylines as opposed to the Cavs who no one gives a damn about. Unless you're team is destroying them, you're not watching them at all.
Um i'm sorry guys but Deng is a much better player than Hamilton now and extremely solid. I've also noticed that Brewer, Deng, Kirilenko and Boozer are some of the best cutters in moving without the ball to get layups in the game. May have something to do with Sloan's offense.
Hamilton, Prince to the Suns for Carter, Childress/Warrick I really don't have a vested interest in either team just throwing something out there. Seems like Hamilton and Prince could both use a change of scenery and Nash could be good for both of them. Pistons get a huge expiring and have to take on one of the Sun's long contracts.
This situation has to be VERY awkward for the Pistons and Rip Hamilton, no doubt. Agreed with everything A_3PO said earlier regarding Joe Dumars (despite the inexplicable lack of a Darko mentioning ). But yeah, it's time for him to go. We're long past the point of where all the good he did in the past as a player and executive matters. He's been completely submarining that franchise for several years now. It's in the best interest of both parties to move on.
yeah, that darko guy sucks, 3rd in the league in blocks right now, epic fail. maybe it was a fail not finding time for him to play? fail post maybe
How is that a fail post? Is Darko 3rd in the league in blocks for Detroit? Uhh no he's not so yes it is still a draft blunder.
In hindsight, that was a draft blunder. However remember that that was in the tail end of the draft height 1st era. Now we're in the draft athleticism & potential era.
I left it off because they won a championship Darko's rookie year. You never know if Melo would have led to a big chemistry disruption on that team. I betcha they wouldn't have made the Rasheed Wallace trade if Melo had been there. That year for Dumars, it was better to be lucky than anything else.
This would be a terrible trade for Chicago. Luol Deng can still play. He is also in his prime. While i agree that hamilton would be a better player on a team with an elite point guard, that does not hide the fact he is in the twilight of his career. There is no way Chicago would even consider this move unless Detroit added something/someone of greater value.
For sure, there was a little bit of alchemy going on with those great Pistons teams, they were clearly better together than the sum of their parts. In retospect, Billups was clearly the tentpole of whatever it was that made them great. Hindsight might be 20/20, but how do you decide to keep Rip but not do everything possible to keep the guy that anchored your offense and perimeter defense?
....he's on the his 5th team right now. If he is so awesome he would have stuck by now somewhere. Fact is shot blocking is his ONLY skill. He doesn't rebound, doesn't shoot well, and has one of the lowest PERs for his position(a position with PERs far lower than other positions). Are you seriously arguing that Darko isn't a draft bust? The fact that your towing the Kahn party line is a huge FAIL. Next your going to tell me he's as good Chris Weber...
What are you talking about? Counting Deng, the Bulls have three guys on the roster who could legitimately start as a SF in the league(and have in recent years). Granted Deng is the best of them and even at that he is only really a mid level talent. My point is if you start let's say Korver, you have at least an average SF your starting - meanwhile with Rip as your SG you have a slightly above average SG. With Deng and Bogans you have a slightly above average SF, and one of the worst starting SGs in the league. The difference between Korver/Brewer and Deng isn't as great as the difference between Bogans and Rip. Besides, pure shooters like Rip tend to have much longer lifespans in the NBA - look at Ray Allen. Pair Rip with an elite PG and he is going to be able to make teams pay for several more years to come. I'm not arguing with Deng's talent - he is a better player than Rip, but given the balance of talent on that team, they need a catch and shoot player more than they need a "good at a lot of things, master at nothing" type player in Deng - especially when they have two guys who combined have the same skill set as deng that can be subbed in/out according to what they need.
Rip Hamilton deserves better. Its so slack what they are doing to him down there. I mean no one has even spoken to him to tell why he hasnt played. I cant belive how distastrous the club has been since they let Billups go. All hell broke loose. Ben Gordon and Charlie Vilanueva have been non factors. Stuckey cant oplay PG and is over-rated as a player anyways. Daye is being wasted too and who are they gonna sit when Jerebko comes back? Rip and Tay need to be traded ASAP!!! Gordon, Vilanueva and Maxiel should be traded too.
Of course, I'm talking about their present state. Wow man, I didn't think this was possible: You just failed at failing.
Regardless of the argument over whether Darko developed into a worthwhile role playing big (he did) Regardless of whether Carmelo was too much of a me first scorer that would upset the Pistons' all about team chemistry (he would have) There is zero argument to justify taking Darko before Bosh
