The biggest news from this may be more connected to Josh Smith. If Detriot is proposing a trade for Gay, then perhaps they have moved on from Smith.

Hmm... Detroit's been playing busy bee under the radar. Reports have them making a play for JSmoove and Gay while attempting to unload undesirable contracts and redundancies. Their roster's going to look competitive out East if they manage to acquire those 2.

Front court rotation of Drummond, Monroe, and JSmoove
Wings rotation of Gay, Singler, Jerebko, and Caldwell-pope
    Knight at the pg spot.

They seem to missing another distributor but otherwise, a nice target to aim for if they can pull it off.

Make the pistons add 2nd rounders and make the deal.

The Barneys have to take that deal. Dumars is determined to blow it again.

Rudy Gay is about to show the world he's on Charlie Villanueva's level.

Does Toronto have a 2014 1st rounder? If so, do the trade and tank the ish out of the season. Can't believe how bad Dumars is.

They'd still have the cap space. I think Iguodala make a little bit more sense in that situation. Better yet some shooter.

But you could also go with Gay-Smith-Monroe-Drummond. Start them all together for a couple minutes, but mainly play Gay at 3, and give Smith most of his minutes at 4.
There's 144 total minutes at SF/PF/C a game. Enough to give each of them major minutes while having probably the best frontcourt rotation in the league.

He's under orders to make the playoffs by their new owner. This is a great deal in that situation. You don't waste the cap space on Gay and you still have enough space for another major free agency piece.

Anyway, I think the Raptors will ask for more.

How did Dumars assemble that mid 2000 team and now totally ruin every single chance he has at developing a nice team again?

The sign of a bad GM: he wants to acquire Rudy Gay.

This. Masai Ujiri needs to get rid of Colangelo's mistakes.

Danny Ferry did the same exact thing with his predecessor's horrific moves (Joe Johnson, Marvin Williams) and is now in position to at least be in the conversation about acquiring Dwight Howard.

I would take this deal if I were the Raptors. Hand over the keys to Valanciunas and go from there.

Raptors need to do this. Gay for expirings is exactly what they need to do!
