Never been to D World... but I love the movie. Great flick. I can't wait to see this one... and the next... and Ms. Knightly rocks.
Dead Man's Chest looks pretty good...hopefully it'll suprass it's overrated predecessor. I seem to be the only, so far, to think the first Pirates was just okay. It had it's moments but was marred by a few problems.
Brought this thread back to life. I saw the movie at the midnight showing last night and it's great. I won't say more because I don't want to spoil anything but if you're worried about this movie sucking, don't.
The reviewer in the Post yesterday was angry because it was just more of the same i.e. great CGI and Depp doing his "Keith Richards as a Pirate" schtick...as if the masses that spent 100's of millions on the first one sat around for two years going "I hope they explore new themes and expand tangental characters storylines!" If Keira is still hot, Bloom plays straight man, Depp Richards' it up and the pirates are all CGI oogy, then it'll make another $350 million. I'm seein' it this weekend!
Looking forward to this. Friends of mine actually tried to see one of the midnight shows last night. Lines were out the door.
saw the midnight show. Purchased tickets 5 hours in advace. It was showing on 4 screen and the first was already sold out. We arrived an hour early and the lines were going out the door. It seemed like high school all over again. I could have waited to see it. It reminded me of the matrix trilogy ... first one great, second one so so while ending on a cliff hanger and the 3rd movie is already filmed waiting for the next year. It was ok.
I saw it this afternoon and I though it was allright. Didn't blow me away but it had it's good moments, funny situations and creative fight scenes. The only real issue I had was the accents. I know they want to keep everything authentic or whatever, but there were times I couldn't understand what the hell they were saying. But, I thought this one overall was a bit better than the 1st Pirates.
I saw it last night. I liked it alot. Alot more action than the first one. The only thing is that this movie is unecessarily long and had it's slow moments but knowing that this movie is really part of a longer movie with part three coming out, it's understandable.
