it's just insane. pujols has 43 homers but has 180 more at bats. pujols, the second best hitter in the game, is tearing it up and yet only has 4 more homers in 60% more at bats. there just shouldn't be any way to be as good as bonds is. if he was shooting up in the on deck circle he shouldn't be this good. edit: and talk about weak. the dbacks, a team currently 50 games under .500, trailing 11-5 in the 5th or so, intentionally walked bonds today with a guy on second. i mean come on, i can understand if you've got something to play for but when you're 50 under and down 6, pitch to the man.
The Rockies owe it to everyone in the wildcard race to try their hardest to win. That's why they play the games, isn't it?
Sheesh ... Arizona blows a 7-1 6th inning lead against the Giants ... Al least we'll have a chance to take care of the Giants ourselves.
I thought todays game wasnt on tv? i remember saturday home games not being shown on TV, but i am watching it right now on 51.
I caught the tail end of it. It wasn't anything serious, something more comedic. I just heard the announcers laughing about something. It was a pop fly into the first base line stands, and some fan did something funny, cause the fans around him were laughing and smiling. nothing big i guess.
A fan kept the Pirates from reaching into the stands and making a play. The ball was in the stands, so no big deal.
Why pinch hit Brad Ausmus there? I was watching the game update, so I couldn't see if it was a lefty-righty matchup deal, but why put the player most likely to hit into a double play up there when a DP is the biggest thing you don't want?
I think the idea is that Brad is much faster than Chavez, so he would be less likely to hit into the double play. However, I agree with you that it doesn't make a lot of sense. He's a lot more likely to hit the ball on the ground and Chavez has been hot today. He did avoid the double play though
