lol really? All I remember was you swearing like a 10 year old and putting out barely coherent cliche. Sorry if I didn't continue checking that thread though, I don't exactly make it my life goal to respond to terrible posts.

How hard did you have to google for those names? We know you're so forgetful that you don't even remember Shaq's numbers when he and Wade got a ring.

Great, now let's now look at the list you labored so hard to compiled. You got 16 people, that makes it barely 2 stars per teams on average. How is that any different from modern playoff teams? On rare occasions, you got guys like Lebron who single handedly drags his team along, but most teams do have 2 legit all stars.

Of course it's not all evenly distributed nicely so we do have big stacked teams, and like stacked teams of today, they had success.

So what makes it "tougher" to win back then than it is now?

Oh and please don't even bring HOF in to the discussion, absolutely terrible measuring stick for a player if you know anything about hoops.

You do bring up some good points. Not going to get into Heat Shaq right now as that has nothing to do with this conversation.

I understand that a 1/30 chance is worse than a 1/9 chance for any given year. The season which I am discussing ('62-'63) saw both conference finals mathchups go to 7 games (Celtics over Royals and Lakers over Hawks) and the finals go to 6 games. There were more legitimate contenders that year than there were this year (both conference finals matchups were wrapped up in 5). The team which had the best player in the game back then didn't even make the postseason (Philadelphia Warriors with league scoring/rebounding champ Wilt Chaimberlin, that same team had the league assists champ, Guy Rodgers).

What Kareem was saying was that it was tougher to win then than it is now, while I personally am not entirely sure (to be honest, I did not exist back then), looking back at the history, I can see that he does have a very strong argument.

Yes I did do research (basketball-reference) but that does not take away from the fact that all of the above mentioned guys (at the very least, a very very very high majority) are household names. Fact remains, 7 out of 9 teams had multiple hall of famers, 4 of which had multiple household names (even to this day), two of which had at least three.

As far as HOF being a measuring stick, while the hoops hall is flawed, most (if not all) of those guys are considered to be legends, even by todays standards. The hall of fame is the ultimate accomplishment in terms of individual player accomplishments and nothing should take away from that.

How many teams do you see with 3 or more sure fire hall of famers today? I can think of one (Celtics), can think of a two which have two, one maybe with three but it is a maybe at this point, future hall of famers (Heat, Mavericks), can think of a bunch which have one future HOFer (possibly others which are close) such as Spurs, Lakers, Suns, potentially Magic/Hornets/Nets/Knicks/Bulls/Thunder/Clippers.

My point (well Kareem's point) was a simple one: There were more stacked teams back then than there are now and I'd like to see you attempt to dispute that.

Let's be honest. Pippen's quote was already ridiculous. He just got carried away by watching Lebron dominate the Bulls and he was suffering from the short-term memory that plagues a lot of basketball fans.

Always one of the (if not THE) best stories about the Jordan/Pippen dynamic IMO

It's not really a lie; it's his opinion.

Sadly, Pippen's opinion is wrong, haha.
