[I like how you use Tragic Johnson, who started with all kinds of talent around him, which Lebron James never had till now.

QUOTE=Nook;6145647]Is he on course to be the greatest? Really?.... LeBron already has a lot of miles on his legs, because he came straight from HS. He does not have nearly the defining moments of Magic or MJ.

If LeBron wants to be the greatest ever he better get better, and go on a real roll.... because he is 6 titles behind MJ, and the fact he formed his own super team will not help his game in the eyes of those that judge.

LeBron will go down as a great one, a top 10 great... but I don't think he is likely to reach the level of the Magic's and Jordan's.[/QUOTE]

When did I say Lebron couldn't?

I'm saying it is silly to mention him in the same vein as Jordan until he actually starts accomplishing things...winning one title would be a good place to start.

    You're the one in denial.

Yaa so was David Robinson in 94-95. How'd that work out for him?

Plus, LBJ just shut down Rose like it was nothing.

With that logic I guess Lebron should not have last years MVP award also.

MVP is a regular season award. Rose led his team to the best overall record in the NBA despite the injuries the team suffered and despite the fact that no one thought the Bulls would be the best team in the NBA record-wise.

I'm not saying Lebron is better than Bird, but did Bird also hold the opposing team's best player to 20% shooting in the 4th quarter throughout the series? I seem to recall Nique trading baskets with Bird in that classic shootout.

Why doesn't Russell get more love as the GOAT?

Come back to me when MJ wins 11 rings...
Russell also won 5 MVP awards. The Finals MVP and Defensive Player of the Year awards did not exist when Russell played (well FMVP started his last year), but we know he would have racked those up as well. He also won two NCAA championships. The guy was just the greatest winner in basketball history.

IMO that ship sailed for LeBron when he chose to hook his wagon up to the DWade train. LeBron will never be seen as a guy who was able to be the leader of a team that transforms into and Dynasty. DWade is that guy in Miami. DWade already did alone what LeBron could not do.

In an era vastly different from the modern game.

You think Wilt can drop 100 today?

Lebron is not better than Hakeem, so he is not the greatest.

Magic didn't have LeBron's athleticism and brute strength. And I think LeBron is a better defender. Magic is a smarter player though.

Well this is a fair argument. I don't really disagree with you...but this is about Lebron and Jordan, quite clearly Bron has a LONG way to go to get the nod as best ever when you look at what these two did.

I'm not sure what you are talking about. Rose shot 44% during the regular season, where are you getting 25% from? I guess you just decided to throw out some low number and hope I would not notice that you are flat out lying about Rose and his shooting %

His TS% was 55% too so I am just confused at where you are getting 25% from.

LeBron is in a huge whole to begin with given the fact that he punked out last year and fled to Miami to play with another player as skilled as him. Whether or not his skills and accolades ever match up to MJ's, Jordan fleeing Chicago to play with Magic or Isiah would never have happened.

Add that to Lebron needing a few more Finals MVP awards...

I actually just finished reading The Jordan Rules and it really doesn't surprise me that Pip would say something like this. He's always resented not being able to carve his own legacy a bit...

Kobe is the closest to Jordan we've seen yet, and even he doesn't measure up.

What other people have said about Lebron

When I watch LeBron James a lot of times he's just out there teasin' with the other teams. You know he's getting other people involved early, now he can make the shots. He's just awesome to watch. He's one player in the league that I think that will probably be better than all of us when it's all said and done."-Larry Bird at nba.com

“LeBron has the potential to be the best ever. As incredible as he already is, he is still learning the game. LeBron is going to be unbelievable.”Michael Jordan

“He has a chance to be arguably the greatest player ever to play the game.”-Jerry West

"I think, before he's done, he has a chance to be the greatest player of all time."Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge.

He (LeBron) will, in my eye, be better than Michael - Scottie Pippen

Huge difference between those quotes and saying that he probably is the greatest to ever play the game.
