Does anyone know who the Rockets put on the injured list so that we could activate Pike? Or waived even?
Hmmm... The Rockets Injury Report sheet hasnt been updated for 3 days now. I was wondering the same thing...I bet if they HAD to put someone on the injured list it would probably be JOHN AMAECHI.
I'm as pessimistic as the next Rockets fan, but the return of Mo-T and Pike and, hopefully, Adrian Griffin will help in both what the team achieves on the floor but also in potential roster moves. I know, I know, some of us yap too much about trades, but even JVG was quoted in the Chronicle as saying that other roster moves are possible, as Portland exposed our lack of size. Whether that means a minor or major move or nothing, I dunno.
True, but who gives a you know what. I could care less if Mobley is upset. Truth is, Mobley should be little more than a role player, although an important one...like Vinny Johnson. His game is just not well-rounded enough to warrant the kind of minutes he's been getting during his time with the Rockets, especially now that we have higher expectations.
I like the idea of dropping Moochie lower on the depth chart. Mobley can handle the rock. So can Jim Jackson. What's a "point guard" on this team anyway? But as to the title of this thread "Pike is back" ... yawn.
It's not that Pike is going to come in here and turn into a savior or offensive super star but teams have to respect his outside shot every time. Pike does not have the athleticism to create his own shot like Cuttino or Steve but if left alone he will bury the jumper almost every time. Teams know this and will not leave Pike alone on the perimeter. Now teams have to be much more persistent in guarding the perimeter and this will help to open things up inside. Not that Pike is going to come in and score 20 points a game but people will not be able to cheat off of him either. Pike is the perfect complimentary offensive weapon. If the Rockets decide to put Mo and Pike on the floor at the same time then we have to very consistent outside shooting threats and this can only help Yao Ming on the offensive end.
Rockets.com finally updated the injury page. Looks like Wilks suffered a shoulder contusion this morning
Hey, I am excited Pike is back, and I am not afraid to say it. I am very pro "pure shooter" especially in this dunk driven, highlight reel making, no free-throw shootin league the NBA has become.
That equates to 3-5, and 3-6 if you were to take his points as if they were 2 point shots. That's at least 50% in that respect. True, he won't be a high scorer night in and night out, but he'll keep the attention of the defense, as was pointed out several times.
FWIW, sorry if already posted, but Mike Wilks came down with a mysterious ailment in order to clear up the roster spot for Piatkowski. Hope he gets well soon.....
I'm glad that Pike is back. I don't expect much from him in the beginning but hopefully he will start making some much needed 3 point shots after the next 5 games or so.
Man, I was hoping it would be Meech rather than Wilks. We have a lot more depth in the big men department than at the PG spot.
That was a pretty mundane "injury". They should spice it up to something like "bilateral spinal scoliosis nervousa"
1 for 3 against his former team...ok, this was only his first game back, but usually you torch your old teams...i hope it gets better then that...
He said that he was nervous. I heard he said that he wished he would play some games before returning to play against his old team....Not bad for 1st game after the injury...It can only get better I hope.
