I couldn't disagree more. Every year, eight teams make it to the second round of the playoffs. There's really nothing special about that. The fact that we didn't do it for more than a decade was just a sign of how bad the franchise was during those years. But the 22 game winning streak is something only one other team has ever accomplished in the history of the league.
I don't think PP's tweet will be the end of it unless Stern makes his displeasure known behind the scenes. It could get more provocative.
The Celtics as a team definitely do have plenty of contempt for the Heat. Quoth Glen Davis: "No one can spoil this night. Good for us to come in and spank that a**." The Celtics know that the Heat are soft as Charmin, and they will giddily prove it when called upon. The game was over when Rondo darted down the middle of the lane and hammered one down violently all over Chris Bosh, who merely stood there with a vacant stare, cluelessly wondering whether he should extend a hand in support to help Rondo come down from the rim safely. If that isn't the epitome of basketball meekness, I don't know what is. Oh, and after the game, you'd think LeBron would say something to the effect of "I think we're experiencing growing pains as a team; we need to become tougher, we need to respond better to challenges." Nope. His response? Yep.
I hate both of these guys so much. Theyre both just as annoying. lebron: "what should i do" pierce: "i broke my knee i cant walk take me to the locker room. oh wait i popped it back in, not only can i walk but i can run jump and shoot threes. its a miracle. time to start flashing my gang signs "
I thought it was funny. When I see NBA players do stuff like this on twitter, makes me see them as more regular ol normal folks. Because this is the type of stuff us regular folks would do.
Apparently NBA.com is also taking jabs @ LeBron... Celtics vs. Heat: "Ray Allen takes his talents to South Beach, scoring 35 points in the Celtics' 112-107 win over the Heat." http://www.nba.com/games/20101111/BOSMIA/gameinfo.html?ls=gt2hp0021000118#nbaGIboxscore
It's an accomplishment... but it doesn't help the team in the long haul at all. It's just a record. Getting to the 2nd round gives this core group of players more experience. I get what you're saying with how the 22 game win streak holds more ground because it's been hardly ever done, which is true... but in the end... it's a record that means nothing other than "oh wow, the Rockets had a 22 game winning streak".
