Kinda crazy how around this time last year nobody knew who Von Wafer was except for Morey. The beauty of all this is we can sit back and not worry too much as I suspect Morey will once again make the right decision as to paying Wafer the correct X amount of money and or grooming/signing/trading for the next player.
Would love to see Von Wafer back, and like DD said, he will only get better and hopefully mature. I think he may mature on this team (as opposed to others) because I think he has something to play for. I think this is his first real, semi-long-term shot that he's had on the court, and I think it's good for him to feel like he has a little responsibility (to his team, fans, himself, etc.). Hope Von grows up and gets better!
He will mature as he gets more playing time, players like him need to KNOW their role and Von bounced around a lot this year in his role. He was a very effective scorer, I expect him to get better on defense now too...he has the quickness, he just needs the coaching and playing time. DD
Yeah, I just hope there are no more issues and I hope he keeps it under control because, to be honest, I really thought he played great in Tracy's/Ron's (whoever it was) absence when he was starting, complete shocker and I had no idea he'd play that well and step it up. So I know he can do it, I just don't want anything he does (dumb things) to affect his playing time because I think he's one of those guys who has to see time on the court, consistent time, to really up his game, and I think if he had that time, he may surprise us all. Lot of talent, lot of heart, lot of emotions.
Oh, btw, I'm not suggesting that he bounced arround in his role because of his actions, I was just speaking to what happened in the playoffs at the end of the season. If he's coming off the bench next season, I just hope he gets some consistent minutes and can get used to his role. I think he'll do great.
He's young, i like his tenacity offensive flair but Von will probably opt for money somewhere else. With tmacs return he might not want to resign with Houston too, as his minutes will most likely drop further into the next campaign. Hopefully, Von Wafer is smart enough to realise that if he signs a deal past 2010, he has a pretty good chance of moving into the starting 5. Oh and If DM can't resign VW, what use is my username?
He played his high school ball at Heritage Christian in Cleveland, Tx. I know he played at Florida State. I know he bounced around a bit but I dont recall him playing ball in Carolina.
