I remember Top Gear did a special in Bolivia. They went through road #1 on the list and it was amazing how they managed to get through. I can't imagine what it must feel like to be so close to the edge.

They cost money and you have to pay workers... a lot of these places don't have acces to either. More than likely the roads aren't "official", but shortcuts made by locals. Visiting Mexico as a kid, i remember going up/down a road like the ones in the first few pics. My dad was driving and i remember thinking i'd **** my pants if I was in his place. Especially when you're on the side closest to the edge, since you can hardly see any road when you look out the side window
Road of Death...maybe? But it would have to be for a really good reason. The hiking trail, with wooden planks hanging from the side of a mountain? Umm, no.
Very nightmarish. Not a chance I'd do any of those. Even the cable cars give me the willies. Though if you're living in extreme poverty where you're at, and those roads give you access to a better life, and its the ONLY path you have, its probably why they're built in the first place. The Russia road doesnt even look sensible. Hard to even qualify that as a "road". Its just a muddy pathway. Like trying to ride a bicycle through the swamp Perversion knows no bounds. Road 1 should be in gran turismo or some other racing game. Would be INTENSE, make rainbow road look like a sunday drive.
