One thing to consider is the nash isn't as good if he's not in a run and gun system as seen in Dallas and when he played with shaq.
I think you have to put Nash ahead of Rose/Rondo....at least for now....if you look at who makes the ENTIRE team better as a whole...steve nash....where would have phoenix would have been without nash....probably not a playoff team...with or without rondo, the celtics would have made the playoffs (but yes he did help carry them further in the playoffs...im not denying that)....the way I look at it is, if you were to take away nash, rose, or rondo from their respective teams, which one would suffer/decline the most? If that's the case, steve nash is the better point guard out of those three....
If you project next years numbers, I think durant will have better numbers than lebron bc he is still the man in okc .. and durant has taken a team to the playoffs also and he has elevated his game to the point where last year he was perhaps the best offensive player in the game ..
Come again? He was a great player no doubt (basically he's Steve Nash with a good defensive game), but people rate him ahead of Magic and the Big O?
Rondo>>>>>>>>>>Nash Nash is old, his window is closed. Plus he's canadian so he's soft. Rondo is a young guy with room to grow.
Did you even watch basketball back then? The Suns before Nash were a lottery team. Nash turned that SAME LOTTERY TEAM INTO A 60-WIN TEAM. This was the reason he won his first MVP. Who would you have taken over Nash that year? Then many people who think similar to yourself, start spewing bs like "Amare is the best player on that Suns team," "no Amare no 60-win season," bla bla bla bla bla bla bla. Then Amare went down for the entire season AND THE SUNS HAD ANOTHER 60-WIN SEASON. This was the reason he won his second MVP. While him v Dirk was arguable, the feat he accomplished that year when most people counted them out was still pretty amazing. The MVP is a regular season award and Nash deserved both.
He was quoting how your two posts contradicted eachother. The thing about Nash is that he is an accomplished player who is still playing at the level he has been over the past several years. Did you expect that PHX team to go to the WCFs?
You can't compare any of Nash's team to a team with 3 future HOFers. Nash has been easily the best player on every one of his PHX teams, Rondo was the 4th best player on the championship squad and top 2 on this finals squad (Pierce did come up huge in the postseason as well, don't discount him). So what if he is a bad defender? Most PGs in the league today are bad defenders. There are not many PGs who are able to manage a team like Nash can (Paul, Williams maybe. That is it). Those Suns teams which were "loaded with talent" were a lottery team before acquiring Nash (or a fringe playoff team with Starbury). Even "despite his horrific defense," those Suns teams were contenders
Nash didnt desrve those MVPs, everybody knows that. I can think of tons of players who deserved the awards more than him, like AI, KG, Shaq, Kobe, Timmy, T-mac, etc...
The people who voted for the award didn't know it. Right? Perhaps you don't know (which shocks me because I always thought of you as a smart duded based on prior posts) but MVP=Most VALUABLE Player. Not "PLAYER OF THE YEAR," it is "MOST VALUABLE PLAYER." And it is a regular season award which is voted on before postseason begins. Now you know this, maybe you will change your opinion. It is NOT best player in the NBA, it IS most VALUABLE player. Maybe you don't like Nash but how can you possibly believe the bull**** you are spewing? The Suns during Nash's first year back with them were a 62-win team, THE BEST IN THE NBA. THEY WERE A 29-WIN TEAM THE SEASON BEFORE. AND THEY WERE ESSENTIALLY THE SAME TEAM PLUS NASH. Nash improved that team by 33 wins! THIRTY THREE WINS. How can you argue that anybody is more valuable than a 33 win improvement? Good luck trying. You WILL fail. There is NO QUESTION that he deserved the first MVP. It is not a debatable topic. The same team went from 29 wins to 62 wins with him being pretty much the only key addition. You cannot argue the first MVP. You have NO CASE. After the MVP year, many people started claiming that the emergence of Amare was the reason PHX improved by 33 wins and not Nash (which is fair because Amare was a beast that year). AMARE WENT DOWN FOR THE SEASON. And PHX remained competitive (54-win team, fourth in the NBA). Once again, Nash's value to the team has been proven. This was the reason why I feel he deserved the second MVP.

I am done in this thread because it seems like a lot of you don;t know what you are talking about, but I hope you are aware that Dallas improved their record when Nash left. Doesnt seem like he was too valuable to them.
Nash is still better than Rondo. He's a better playmaker. A far more efficient scorer (.615 TS% compared to .540), in fact i would say his scoring efficiency alone makes up for his D. For every possession that Nash lets a guy score on him that Rondo wouldn't, Rondo bricks a jumper. Heck if you wanna throw PER out there Nash has Rondo beat 21.6 to 19.1. That includes rebounds and steals. Rose deserves to be nowhere near the top 3. In fact he's not in the top 5. People do realize that he averaged half an assist more than Brooks right? And because he can't shoot from outside he's still not an exceptionally efficient scorer. He's better than Brooks, but people are horribly overrating him. Now if he could get a jumper then we could have something.
