Cause I already had too many chelsea guys! Also Essien is awesome but I don't know what position to play him - central midfield? defensive midfield? Wing back? central defense? He does it all. i guess for that reason he can be the top sub.
Jesus, people. "Futbol" = Spanish The language we're typing in = English It's that simple. Can I buy anybody a T-shirt?
sure I'll take this one I'll admit to not liking cats, but kittens are pretty funny. and futbul/soccer.whateva its called in other countries just aint my cup o tea. different strokes right?
LOL I like the sport just fine. I actually came in here to see who was in everyone's lineups and maybe learn something, but then I saw "futbol" and laughed. I really don't care what anyone calls it, I just found the Spanglish funny so I thought I'd make a joke about it to share my enjoyment. But I must've just phrased it poorly, or struck the wrong chord somehow - although I thought I did pretty good at the time...
OK since everybody universally acknowleged my brilliant mega-team now I'm going to put together a team that can beat my mega team. How will I do it? With defense and probably size. keep the game low scoring and pull it out. I don't know jack about which formations stop other formations in soccer/calcio/football/futbol/fussball, so I am just making stuff up to stop the deadly 4-1-2-1-2 that I have on the other squad. We will play 5 defenders, 4 middies, and a lone striker. ST: Luca Toni (Fiorentina/Italy) (tempted to put Henry here, but if we're going to play big I'll go Toni) LW: Gennaro Gattuso (AC Milan/Italy) LCM: Kaka (AC Milan/Brazil) RCM: Deco (Barca/Portugal) RW: Mauro Camoranesi (Juventus/Italy) LB: Gabriel Heinze (ManU/Argentina) LCB: Rafael Marquez (Barca/Mexico) (there you go SwoLy) RCB: Rio Ferdinand (ManU/England) RB: Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid/Spain) SW: John Terry (Chelsea/England) GK: Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus/Italy) Tempted to use Cesc Fabregas in MF also for defense but he can't play on the wing, and I would also like to incorporate Franck Ribery as a reserve because he can play either wing slot and provide offense if necessary. This team will have to play it very conservative to beat the dream 11 and it will be up to Kaka to create chances and camoranesi to create crosses for Toni maybe, but their defense is rock-solid all around the line up. There's really no weak link on defense at all.
I've never heard of any of these people... I could probably take 11 guys from my High School REAL FOOTBALL team and even at our advanced age, beat the tar out of these foreigners if they didn't run away. And by the way, it's not a sport if you can't use your hands. Pick up the damn ball and run with it! Soccer is a communistical device used to brainwash the minds of All-American kids and prevent them from exercising their God-given right to HIT SOMEBODY! And don't give me that noise about Soccer being rough. It may be a contact sport, but REAL FOOTBALL is a manly man's COLLISION sport. Nobody in REAL FOOTBALL just stands there with their hands covering their private parts.
ST: Ruud van Niistelroy (Barca/Netherlands) FW: Didier Drogba (Chelsea/Cote D'Ivoire) CAM: Ronaldinho (Barca/Brazil) RCM: Michael Ballack (Chelsea/England) RW: Cristiano Ronaldo (ManU/Portugal) LB: Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern/Germany) LCB: Lucio (Bayern/Germany) RCB: Fabio Cannavaro (Real/Spain) Right Defender: Willy Sagnol (Bayern/Germany) Left Defender: Philipp Lahm (Bayern/Germany) GK: Oliver Kahn (Bayern/Germany)
Were there some defections that I don't know about? And I'm surprised you were willing to put a Dutch player on your squad.
Thank you, SamFisher. "REAL FOOTBALL" ??? COLLISIONs??? OK, cool... then... why so many pads and helmets...? Troll alert.
Yes, SamFisher hasn't noticed yet that Cannavaro plays for Real, either . Van Nistelroy is really good, but I can't stand him since he was dumb enough to go to Real instead of Bayern... Well...we will get our revenge on Wednesday...and I will be in the stadium .
So you came into this thread just to say you didn't know these people and how we were going to say how soccer is "rough"? Nobody is biting but me. So... we can talk noise off this thread... and take it onto the D&D... if you want to talk about what's rough and what's not. Take away the pads from "real FOOTBALL" and all you have is RUGBY, my <strike>friend</strike> troll.
Henry Drogba Ronaldo Cesc Ronaldinho Ribery Cole Terry Toure Ramos Cech Don't watch any Italian football so am pretty weak there. Henry likes to drift left so I don't think he and Drogba would compete for the same balls. Cesc and Ronaldinho make a pretty dynamic and creative center with Ronaldo and Ribery bombing down the sides. Cole would link up well down the left and has great recovery/shutdown speed. Terry and Toure combine big and swift with position sense. Wasn't really sure about RB so took Sam's suggestion there. IMO Cech is the best in the world even with that silly looking helmet. I wouldn't be unhappy with any of the others like Casillas, Buffon or even Mad Jens.
So you wrote a long post to make a point that a sport, which many other members on this board love and which you obviously don't have much knowledge about, sucks. Could your time have been more well spent than that?
