I like the bad gear guy. But then again I prefer to play ball in blue jeans, somehow is makes me run faster...

I can't lie I've been the bad gear dude a few times, unfortunately I've never worn an elementary kids back pack nor have I worn a pair of boots to hoop (always have a pair of basketball shoes and a basketball in my car).
That said hooping in jeans couldn't possibly enhance your speed. Mind over matter, I guess.

it's just a habit. When I was a kid, first thing I would do was get off the bus and head for the basketball courts to play ball with the older people in my school clothes.

Then in HS when our team would have our pickup games, I would show up in pants for the entire day and run people out of the gym. The pants actually help my legs from getting jelly-fied and help me run straight when I start getting a little winded. And on layups, dunks pants help you keep proper form when landing and lessens your chances of injury.

Actually pants do help you somewhat because you run harder. Well, at least for me I run way harder in jeans than I do in shorts.

I prefer playing in jeans because of that. But I like anything that makes me work harder on the court.
