You're making a "Good to Great" principle argument here, and I love those. If you haven't read that book, you should.

Hey guys, I have an idea and it sure is a swell one! Let's downgrade and pick up Freeman!

This reminds me of the Garrett Gilbert fiasco with the Longhorns a few years ago. Down 35-0 and having thrown 5 picks, Mack Brown says "we didn't want to bench him and hurt his confidence."

He doesn't have to come in as the starter just because you pick him up.

I agree we should go after Freeman but you and I both know the Texans dont like controversy and will keep throwing Schaub out there no matter how many pick sixes he tosses.

I haven't read it, but have heard great things. Unfortunate the Circuit City and Fannie Mae are two of the "good to great" companies in there. :)

    You kind of did though...

Also Alex Smith has always carried himself as a professional(even when benched) and I'm sure the same can be said about Freeman.

Yes, we all know Keenum was undrafted, doesn't mean anything in the NFL.

Kubiak won't do it because teams aren't into the business of correcting QBs that aren't theirs. Not many QBs get a second chance in the NFL. Unless they have a pretty good excuse to get one.

Not sure what Freeman's excuse would be as to why he lost his job. Seems his captaincy was taken from him for missing team events and then he played poorly.

Well it wouldn't be seen as a need if you picked him up.

As far as him being a backup that's fine, he'd make a great back-up QB...not sure he'd agree with that though.

Any ways I don't know what the future of Yates is here, but Case kind of does really seem to fit what Kubiak wants to do (even more so than Schaub at this point) so if we are getting rid of case to get a Freeman I think that's a bad move.

You're right...I think the principles are true, regardless.

Absolutely - I don't know the specifics of the book, but I feel like many of my teams have leadership that is the antithesis of basic concepts of aiming for greatness. :(

Last time we cut someone of value. He ran two touchdowns back in his first and only playoff game and the one we cut earlier in the year he ran a touchdown back in the superbowl and made the pro bowl. Texans are idiots for the releases.

Don't cut anybody because a team will pick up either yates or keenum and we will be left looking stupid. AGAIN!

So the current 53 man roster stays forever because the Texans don't want to risk looking stupid. This is an excellent route to 0-16.

Freeman has no edge on schaub except for Arm Strength and athletiscism. He is a basket case right now. You have 3 QB's who know the system and all played well in the preseason. So you don't cut anyone.

If he is available before next year and can go through training camp next year then maybe but not right now.

And those 2 points are exactly why you dump Keenum and pick up Freeman. Keenum will never be more than a backup in this league. Freeman has the potential to be a top 10 QB on this team. It's a no brainer.

He's available and you don't have to pay him squat.

The Buccaneers tried to trade the recently demoted starter but were unable to find a taker. The team expects that Freeman will claim his right to his full remaining salary of $6.2 million and be free to sign with any other team in the league, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Ed Werder.

This would be a good move... Which means , he aint coming!!!... When Kubiak goes, all 3 of his QB's should go with him........

some browns fans in the NFL.com article about Hoyer inury, were saying bring Freeman, but most of the people answered with a "Freeman is worst than Hoyer and Weeden" so if even browns fans think Freeman sucks, why bring him here?

The same browns fans who were hollering for them to draft Brady Quinn. If freeman went to Cleveland he would instantly be the best qb on the roster and it's not even close.
