That's not true. The Salt Lake City community LUUUUUVS Karl Malone. They even supported his move to LA, forthe most part. The mayor even named a street after him, and even made a holiday after Malone. I don't think it has a lot to do with upper management. I read somewhere in ESPN that a lot of NBA players don't want to go to the Utah Jazz, simply because of location. Salt Lake City, being predominantly Morman, is extremely conservative, and a lot of NBA players don't like the idea of living where they'll be watched. Utah would love to get quality players, and they have the money (with Stockton and Malone gone), but I remember ESPN saying that it was going to be tough to lure people to move to Utah. Karl Malone was a unique person. He loves the outdoors. He loves trucking cross country. He loves hunting and fishing and chopping wood. Deep down inside, Karl Malone is a rootin' tootin' redneck.
I dated a Mormon once. Back in high-school. Lots of Mormons in Orange County, California. He was a real nice guy, too, always considerate, not to mention annoyingly innocent. He couldn't kiss his way out of a paper bag. But he was real sweet, and real cute, but more sweet than cute. His older sister became home coming queen her senior year--and she still hadn't received her first kiss.
TS78 -- FYI, laughy faces indicate a "just kidding" response. Sometimes the kidding falls short (as perhaps in this case), but don't take the comments seriously. Have a little fun! I lived amongst the Mormons for two years (in Las Vegas).
You know, I'm technically a Mormon. Then I realized that I indulge in too many non-godly things so I quit. They actually tell you not to drink tea. I couldn't deal with all of that stuff, I'm too self-indulgent. But the Jazz are the 80's Celtics part 2. They have been that way since the 80's anyway. Back to the subject at hand - Get well soon Pike.
This is not racism This is just observation with a disclaimer attached, to prevent anyone from thinking it was racist. IMO - Your response sounded more like racial stereotyping than Dallas, but then that's just my observation
Probably not, but it gets tiresome to continually hear people say "Utah is boring" just because it is perceived that there aren't any strip clubs there (which there actually are). It must come from people that have never been there.
Utah is awesome for skiing. I had to attend a TSA conference at Novell 10 years ago in January and marveled it's majesty. Who cares about the skank clubs. They're all the same.
Sorry to further derail this thread, but flying down a mountain with one or two boards strapped to your feet is about as far opposite of boring as you can get. The SLC area resorts have some of the best powder in the world. Titty bars are all the same.
i think Utah signs people that fit the system. increasingly its going to be the smart sound players...who can shoot, and make good plays within the offense. whether its hornacek or bryon russell, ostertag or benoit, pagett or eisley. the only time i can think of them straying away from that was the drafting of stevenson....who could go boom or bust, and was not a pick and roll type player/role player....
