McGrady may or may not be ready for the start of the season no one knows but his body but He is the only one we have on the roster that can take over a game. If need be.

so Yao is hurt I get that has anyone said he was going to be out for like a whole year? there is still 4 months till the start of the season, if anything Yao is just healing slower than people thought.

also I still think its just safety thing to make sure the CNT doesnt come a knocking last minute asking him to play in some meaningless tournament to sell some tickets for them

I'll wait on the rockets releasing any official statement declaring his unavailability for the season.

if he ends up playing in december instead of nov it still does nothing in terms of tmac.

Just watched Draft Preview on ESPN and they interviewed the Memphis coach. Kenny Smith said he could figure out who Memphis was drafting by how the coach answered his question; How do you envision your team playing next season?

The coach went on to talk about how he wanted to stay quick in the West to create opportunities. That speed was very important to being competitive because its tough to play against WC defense once set. Also mentioned that they cant sacrifice defense... need to be quick and need to be able to play defense in this conference.

They were about to move onto another topic but the coach interrupted and goes "Before we move on, Kenny, who are we drafting?" It was kind of sarcastic, as if Memphis was either undecided themselves or as if Memphis was dealing their pick.


I think its very possible that Memphis is working on a deal for Battier and Brooks.

I love how they blame it all on us. "The bad Houston reports.." Yeah have fun rebuilding the next 5 years.

 

I agree with what you said but its just the fact that its the same injury. The same foot year after year after year. At some point as a manager you would have to sit and wonder how long is this going to possibly happen. Why would you as a manager want to go through the same problems with your franchise player all the time.

 

Wheres Djjohn or whoever? 15 minutes until we know if the Memphis trade happens.

 

Perhaps so less people are shocked when they don't make a splash before the draft? If Yao's health has already been established as questionable, then people should be able to better come to grips with the lack of any big moves. If they made the announcement after the draft, people may think they are making an excuse for not being more aggressive to get a deal done. It also gets the worst news out of the way. Instead of being disappointed about no deals getting done then finding out a day later that Yao may be done, we get the worst news out of the way and the lack of a big trade doesn't hurt as much.

 

My guess is that the rockets need to rebuild, and they will save tmac's expiring contract for themselves. They probably will go after Rubio tonight so that they can rebuild around him in the future.

 

This is why I hate trade rumors...

I hear a rumor at the beginning of the day. Then I think about it all day long... only to be dissappointed that it didn't happen.

Now I keep looking around for more rumors, even though I know I'm probably not going to find any.

Anyone have any thoughts on a possible Tmac to Memphis part of that deal, if it were to go down? They could use a veteran with some desire to play in his contract year and then get the rebuilding aspect and get this money off the books. that's a way we could possibly sneak a mayo/gay...thoughts??

Apparently, a credible insider on realgm said amare to GS is a done deal.

As with everything coming from realgm, take it with a grain of salt.

 

It could be why we are now hearing more talks of high lotto picks being the target, rather than established players.

Still, strange they are releasing the info the day before the draft.
