All i said was it would be a steal for the Rockets to get #2 pick and Mayo/Gay with just giving up Brooks and Battier. I said they should jump all over it if true. I wasn't getting my hopes up because i knew it was too good to be true. Wasn't expecting it to really be true.

I was thinking, if we had a bunch of scrubs like SA or Orlando that could be traded and re-traded ala Fabricio Oberto it would be much easier to get some talent while giving up nothing.

Since we have Tracy's big chunk of 22 mill I'm thinking we have to give something back for the rosters to match instead of us getting 4 players back and the other team gets uno. Right. Just my thoughts.

 

That's exactly how I feel. I don't want us to gut the team. We have a quality team, but not a title contending team. I see other elite teams adding talent for nothing, and it frustrates me that we aren't when I know we have decent assets.

 

Damn. I guess there's no Amare. I've been checking every minute for any news. This is unfortunate. Hopefully we end up with #2 and Mayo for whatever.

The Rockets are evidentally working on parallel tracks (as are other teams). I wonder if they are intentionally leaking these rumors to send the message to counterparties that, if they don't make reasonable concessions, the Rockets can go with another offer.

Heh, who knows what's motivating whom nowadays.

Here's my guess at Morey's goal: Get the 2nd pick to draft Rubio there because he knows OKC (Sam Presti) wants Rubio at 3rd if available.

So, he's trying to trade Brooks+expiring (Barry, Cook) to SAC for a bad contract (Beno or Nocioni) and the 4th pick. SAC is known to have loved Brooks and even considered him with the 10th pick in his draft (ended up with Spencer Hawes).

And once he gets the 4th, he will trade that pick to his pal Chris Wallace for the 2nd by throwing in something else (next year's 1st rounder? A 1st rounder Rockets buys this year?).

The Battier talk probably come from a counterproposal by the Kings or Memphis, who knows that the Rockets value him.

 

Anyone expecting the #2 pick and OJ Mayo is just being completely ridiculous. That's just embarrassing to us as a fanbase.

I don't know where everyone is getting the idea that Mayo can be attainable. Memphis is stupid, but not that stupid.
