so there has been lots of rumors about the rockets trading to get the #2, #4, #5 or #6...seems like something will happen by the end of the night. it's crazy to hear so many rumors about houston trying to get a lottery pick for us not to really be shaking any trees.

however, what we haven't heard a lot about is who we want? I think thabeet would be an ideal addition given yao's recent medical report and the lack of size available. but he's been projected to go with the second pick. with morey being as smart as he is, he wouldn't be working so hard to get a pick lower than #2 if he was aiming for thabeet unless he knew that he's sliding.

so, with that in mind, it's smart for morey not to announce who we're after. with us trying to move brooks I think we'll be going point guard. also, it'd make sense why the rockets wanted to get into the lottery with this year's crop of PGs. of all the PGs, I am not sure who'll fit our system the best because I am not an expert when it comes to the college game. Although, I've heard really good things about brandon jennings's experience in europe and how that helped him get tough.

what do you guys think? makes good sense that there's probably two or three options for the rockets. I for one don't think rubio would be a good decision. we don't have the time to wait for him to develop. we gotta win now to hope to resign yao.

Kenny is expiring this year,Beno has 4 years left. This is a thin draft, you can't be sure the man you are targeting will be there. It will come down to the wire.
Don't think we have the goods to pull the 2nd one out at all, unless they want Brooks or Landry. I say forget it. Not worth giving up that much.
Battier will be missed if it goes through too. I've never been on the Amare bandwagon.

Well that's really the question, isn't it?

Morey's skill seems to be in finding 'diamonds in the rough', the guys their extensive stat analysis digs up that other people may have overlooked.

But since Morey has been here, he hasn't had a high pick, and we have not yet really seen how he analyzes top-shelf talent in a draft.

But based on what we do know of how Morey likes to operate, which of these guys in the top 7 or so would really be 'Morey Guys' ?

Personally, I am in the camp of people who think it would be pure foolishness to spend that high a pick on someone merely to be a backup to Yao, so Thabeet is probably not the guy.

And based on how tough an out Portland was, and how Roy kills us every time, and how we wanted Roy so badly to begin with, my gut tells me that Harden is the guy, maybe not ahead of Rubio, but if we manage to jump to 2, maybe we hold Minny's feet to the fire and get Harden that way along with another pick or possibly someone who can back up Yao, something like that..

Thabeet will be a good backup some day,it's not worth breaking the bank for him ,Rubio or even Harden IMO. There is only one sure shot guy and that's Griffin.

Maybe it's the optimist in me, but:

    - There's been plenty of rumors from other reputable sources that an Amare/Tmac deal has been discussed

    - And we've heard the full-fledged denial schtick before...which usually means there's actually been serious discussion.

But it does sound like this rumor is cooling off.

EDIT: The Suns/Warriors could be a ruse to push Houton's hand, and it's possible the recent rumors (past 1/2 hour) for a top 5 pick is Morey's way of saying 'fine, we don't care, we have other options'.

If talks never took place, then where did this rumor come from? I've heard it from more than one place.

I've never been convinced that the Suns want McGrady for Amare. Chandler for Ben Wallace makes sense.Chandler can help Amare out defensively,at least to a fair extent if he is fit to play through his contract.

I agree thats stupid...maybe houston turned it down and they are trying to save face, but wether that guy is legit or not...that is BS.

I think the offer is in our hands...I mean look at all the other deals morey could have got where RJ and Shaq went for absolutely nothing. To me with amare situation thats a freaking good trade...cheap contracts for really efficent players...and a HUGGGE expiring contract that is paid by insurance till mcgrady is healthy. Thats is way better than anything traded so far.

I was thinking theyd have to throw in their pick (14)
