This seems to be more of a "feel" thing for you than it is a statistical one isn't it? Like a gut feeling about Barbosa... I have to admit I sort of feel the same. The guy's number suggest he is a very efficient player. There is just this "feeling" that he disappears when he is needed. He is great when he comes out as like the 5th weapon thrown at you, and can overwhelm a teams second unit with his speed. He just seems to not have the attribute many of us fondly refer to as "clutch." His shooting goes from an amazing 48% to a dismal 30 percent in the playoffs. Brooks may have shot a dismal 40% in in the season but he shot 45% in the playoffs. Both had larger roles in the playoffs, one stepped up and one sort of choked. He is still an asset an can be great of the bench and form a run and gun trio with Lowry and Wafer. Losing Brooks is the price we pay for getting Amare.

That said, I think concerns of defense, while valid, may not be as big of an issue granted we keep guys like Battier. We are a defensive team, and were ranked number 1 during the Van Gundy years with Tmac playing 38 minutes a game. A bad defensive player can be covered in our system, a special athlete like Amare could become a beast.

This is a WEAK draft by everyones statements. From GM's to media to fans.

No way Morey trades HIS BOY Battier and tosses in Brooks for Beno(injury prone and equal to Brooks at best hell not even) and the 4th pick.
NO chance. If this team was rebuilding or something then maybe.
They are in win it now mode and only going into lottery if they can unload a role player and not a key player much less two.

Wow. Thanks for the heads up, it's hard keeping track of the news in multiple threads.

Ouch. This makes sense for a lot of reasons. If the Lakers sold their 29th(?) pick for 3 mil. then I'm thinking Morey's blowing a lot of smoke about our "aggression" - and Les' comments about being "predatory" probably haven't helped at all.

I'm hoping for complete boredom, just like last year when entertainment involved "Should Joey Dorsey Start?" threads.

from that same link: New Jersey is also heavily shopping Vince Carter around in exchange for expiring contracts. It looks like they could be starting over from scratch, especially if both of these rumored trades go through.

get it done already, tmac for carter and add some fillers....my head is going to explode if NJ ends up trading him for scrubs..

Now that I think about this. I think its really dumb for this trade to happen. Think about it. Your trading your best playmaker ( McGrady ) and then your other guy in Brooks along with Landry who gives you energy off the bench.
Now we are in the hole again with this pg situation. Lowry would be the only pg on this team.

You now leave yourself with Yao who is the starter and should expect to get lots of mins maybe not too much, Amare ( who said he wants to be the focal point of the offense so idk why he is coming here ) Scola who is a great guy and has earned his mins. Hayes probably wouldn't see the floor at all that much again. Dorsey is working hard trying to get on the floor but with this trade I doubt he sniffs it. Maybe He'll be traded.

I really think at the end this trade is going to hurt us more than it helps us. Is Lowry ready to run the show?? Or is Morey really going to trust in a prospect to run the team?? The roster was shaped up to win now. Now it seems like we are in rebuilding mode.

I am excited about this simply because I really feel Kyle Lowry is starting point-guard material and getting Amare for T-Mac's expiring contract and Landry is worth it. Do it. Do it.

We would, but the Kings arent in a position to let Kevin Martin go. They need him, and he is probably untouchable in that trade scenerio. Garcia isnt bad though. Donte Greene anyone, lol.

First of all, T-Mac barely plays. So he doesn't help us when doesn't even play. He'll also leave by the end of the season and we get nothing in return. Secondly, Kyle Lowry is a very good point guard, someone I feel who'll help us more if he were to play 40+ minutes a game. We can sign some cheap backup. Lastly, Landry is overrated and Scola is clearly the better among the two, especially if we gain Amare and Scola is backup.

    Like someone said earlier:
Brooks is Barbosa Jr. Brooks is not a PG.
Landry is Amare Jr. Landry is just not Amare.
Tracy is done. Nothing good will come out of him.

In the end Amare + Barbosa is definitely a good deal for Tmac, Brooks, & Landry.
