I dont like the trade, but i could see it happening.

Morey have been stated that he like the strength of the PG in this draft.

Reasons that i do not like- Who to have the ball? Yao, Amare and Artest. Possible locker room trouble, as Amare will not like to be the 2nd fiddle to Yao. He complain when Marion and Nash shoots, he complain when Shaq takes up space.

Reasons to like- Almost everything on court will improve. Amare give size and athleticism. He rebounds and he come for blocks. He have a nice jumper to almost the 3p line. His defense is not great, but its not like Landry or scola's defense is that good.

    McGrady on the move?
    Posted on: June 25, 2009

The Rockets have been fielding plenty of inquiries about oft-injured former All-Star Tracy McGrady, whose $23.2 million expiring contract is attractive to teams looking to clear cap space for 2010.

Rockets GM Daryl Morey told the Houston Chronicle that teams have been "very aggressive" in their pursuit of McGrady, and unlike last summer, Morey is listening intently. One such scenario floated by the New York Post, has McGrady, Aaron Brooks, and Carl Landry going to Phoenix for Stoudemire and Leandro Barbosa. That's a dubious one, considering the Suns' long-held reluctance to trade Barbosa. But with Phoenix in fire-sale mode, everything appears to be on the table.

One team known to have discussed McGrady is the Knicks, whose stated plan since Donnie Walsh took over as team president has been to get the financial books in order for 2010. "They have interest," a person with knowledge of the McGrady discussions said.

Stoudemire's situation is muddled by the fact that he has a termination option in his contract after next season. Any team acquiring him would want assurances that Stoudemire would sign an extension this summer in exchange for waiving the termination clause. To this point, according to a source, Stoudemire's representation has not been brought into any trade discussions involving the four-time All-Star.

Absolutely nothing. I'm not sure why people wouldn't be drooling to have him in a Rockets uni.

He averaged 14.2 points a game last season on 48 % shooting in ONLY 24 minutes per game. He also shot 89 % from the ft line, which would make up for Brooks greatness from the charity stripe.

The best thing about Barbosa is that he's only making 6.6 M this year and over 7 thereafter.

    G-Barbosa
    G-Wafer
    F-Battier

Brooks was a -3.1 in net point production between himself and his opponent when he's on the court. That's by far the worst for a starter on the Rockets.

Meanwhile, Barbosa was a +7.6...the highest on the Suns entire team, and far ahead of Brooks.

Considering that their offensive production is comparable, the difference is clearly on defense. And it's not in Brooks' favor. So in a move that essentially swaps the two players, where is there room to knock Barbosa's defense?

I am not happy about this prospective deal, but I have thought about what you're saying. The thing about the Yao era is you can't predict how a player will fit in with the bizarro defenses that have happened since T-Mac became hamburger.

Defensively Yao's underrated - the Eaton effect - which once drew praise now causes current NBA fans heads to explode. Amare is a decent weakside shot-blocker and he is far from slow even now.

And theoretically he can do things Scola, Landry and Hayes can't do so I can see what Morey may be thinking. But I'm still thinking this deal is too risky.

Okay, so it's the cudgel. I've made my points, and they are not number-centric. Who was Barbosa usually guarding? If you had two guards and could post up Nash or let a guy go one-on-one with Barbosa, I acknowledge that's a tough choice, but I'd post up Nash all day. That's even assuming Barbosa was playing with the starters, and against starting players, and so forth, and so on.

Barbosa, when he shows up (once very 3 or 4 games) is fun to watch. If we get him, I'll cheer for him, and hope RA can get some consistency out of him.

I looked up 'Wikipedia' on Wikipedia and it said this exact thing. I don't know what other proof people need, it must be true.

I think Barbosa would be a great addition to the Rockets IMO.

I'm wondering why there are two giant threads that are discussing the same thing at the same time. Shouldn't they be merged?

Brooks, when he shows up (once every 3 or 4 games) is fun to watch. Consistency should not be mentioned along with his name.

I wish the other one would be closed considering it's basically a radio regurgitation of the principles of this very thread.
