I think this trade is pretty much done except that morey is worried about finding another PG. If they throw in their pick morey signs off in less then 5 seconds and picks best available PG. Our roster looks like this:

    Lowery/ rookie PG/ Barbosa
    Barbosa/ Wafer
    Artest/ Battier
    Amare/ Scola/ Hayes
    Yao/Scola/ Dorsey

That lineup is pretty damn salty...

From a talent standpoint, I think this is a pretty fair deal. Landry is completely replaced by Amare, and then some. Barbosa and Brooks are incredibly similar with Barbosa being a little taller, and a better finisher at the rim. Brooks might have more potential in the future, but right now, Barbosa is the better player. And let's face it, McGrady's contract is the only reason why this kind of deal can go through in the first place, so he HAS to be involved.

Now with that being said, I still don't think I like this deal simply based on the fact that neither San Antonio nor Cleveland had to give up any significant pieces in their trades. Why should we have to? If teams are that desperate to dump salary, why should the Rockets give up any major players in their trade, when there are teams out there like Milwaukee who could not care less about winning next year. It would actually anger me quite a bit if we mortgaged our future for this trade, while San Antonio sits there and gives up NOTHING and gets significantly better.

You are thinking WAY too much and giving them WAY too much credit. You think others are actually thinking we shouldn't be trading Mcgrady? The guy who has never gotten out of the first round, who was hurt all year, who has a reputation for not working hard etc etc. Wait what...

Obviously we are not giving TMac for free, in fact, contrary to what you said, teams will now think that the guy we want for TMac is a GREAT value for us because we are a pretty weak team with Yao hurt and cannot afford to just get rid of TMac because we are tired of his antics. Anyway, with yao's injury we will now actually look for REAL talent for TMac.

I can already see Nash's crazy assist to Landry for about 10 open dunks a game :(

And also i feel its necessary to stress this point...

Yao + Amare + Scola + Artest + Battier = BEST FREAKIN FRONTCOURT IN THE ENTIRE NBA.... BAR NONE...

I prefer the Amare trade. The Rockets need to get bigger and by getting Amare, it solves that problem. Barbosa would come to lessen the loss of Brooks.

good call. but landry knew he was being shopped around... reports of the rockets using him to try to get into the lotto.

i don't think hearing that he would be a starter would cause a reaction like devan geroge. george didn't want to be traded because somehow he would lose his player option for the last year of his contract. he knew he wasn't going to make that kind of money as a free agent and nixed the deal so he could use his option in the off season which he did. for him it was about losing money. different situations.

I'm thinking, they are gonna do a three team trade, where rockets will probably pick up amare, barbosa from the Suns, and then a lottery pick or a late pick to draft a poing guard.

Would it be as impressive as Lowry just tossing balls anywhere near the rim and Amare slamming them down.

Of all the trade offers I've seen over the past year that included the Rockets... this is easily my favorite one.

I mean, we're giving up Barbosa Jr. and Amare Jr. for the original Barbosa and Amare... not to mention we get rid of that nagging headache.

    I'm all for this trade.

The Spurs and Cavs didn't have to give up much because the dudes they traded either have shorter contracts, or can be bought out immediately so the savings are immediate. Whoever trades for Tracy will have to pay him all year.

The Bucks just wanted to save some $$, and you can argue that Jefferson is overpaid. So did the Suns with Shaq, and he is old so it's not like you can get a lot for him. Amare is a young star. If he were on the market now some team would max him out, easily. They aren't just going to give him away....

With Amare/Yao in the front court, looks like Barbosa will have to move over for Scola as the 6th man of the year

I'm thinking that the Amare trade will only happen if the Rockets can get a high 1st rounder to send to Phx. Which means that there will be sending Landry, ? to Memphis. Take back a back contract. send their 1st rounder to Phx. Phx. gets Brooks Tmac. Sends us Amare, Barbosa and late picks.

Can we hire Deke as a coach to talk some sense into Amare?
